(From Prep Girls Hoops Indiana's main writer Brandon Bradley)
“In the spirit of fun and entertainment, one of our content directors at the Prep Network headquarters in Minneapolis had the idea of creating "paper" rivalries with neighboring states. Knowing that Indiana plays Kentucky in the annual IBCA/IndyStar All-Star series each June, it was proposed to Jim Dabbelt (Senior Editor, Prep Girls Hoops Ohio) and I to create a series of articles this week highlighting what would happen if Indiana and Ohio were to get together in a border war rivalry game. The biggest difference between our traditional Indiana/Kentucky rivalry and this one with Ohio is that we can incorporate anyone from any of the four graduating classes currently in high school. With that said, Jim and I agreed to picking 15 kids from across each of our states.”

Jim on picking Ohio's best- even teams with outstanding starting lineups, you have to have a strong bench to compete in this kind of a game! We looked at the starting lineups yesterday and they're still 10 very outstanding quality kids left to look at including this next group of players who would be coming in off the bench as key subs for the Ohio squad! Remember, this is not based on taking the top 15 ranked kids, this is just a cohesive group that I've put together to compete against Indiana and a mythical battle of the border! So for now, a look at five key subs coming off the bench for the Ohio stars!

She is the number one ranked Ohio kid in her class of 2027, and she would definitely make a huge impact on this Ohio team, as she is one of the most complete kids in Ohio. Major D1 recruit, outstanding leader, able to score on anyone in the paint. Can rebound and push transition. Reads and reacts well, can defend and force mistakes. She makes it look easier out there a lot of times, her talent level is off the chart!

It's bombs away for this elite Ohio senior! Whitney has been known for years as being able to score in bunches with one of the greatest perimeter games in Ohio. She can knock them down from anywhere behind the arc at any time. Can bounce off the screen and knock down the three, gets her shot off quickly and is difficult to defend. She moves well without the ball and will get herself into position, but she also has good handles and distributes of all well with good court vision and a high IQ. Headed to Kent State!

Her game has really progressed and now becomes much more into the spotlight at Purcell Marian. She is the enforcer in the paint, strong physical frame, where she can score at ease. But if you leave her alone, she can do so much more. She steps out and can knock it down from the three. Shot blocker, deflects a lot and is able to defend the paint with her length. She is the perfect fit on this team to be a major contributor against the Indiana squad! You can't stop her.

The #1 ranked 2028 in the state of Ohio, this flashy guard is a playmaker and a difference maker. You can't defend her she's got great moves, smooth with or without the ball and can score in all three phases of the game. Was a key player for Winton Woods as they won a state title last year, and she has the focus to get them back again for a repeat chance.

WOW…that's all I can say about this young lady. There's nothing she can't do on the floor. She is a strong leader as a sophomore for a Fairmont team that has a shot at the state championship. Janiyah can put the ball on the floor, is shifty with great handles and can blast to the rim to score. It doesn't matter who's defending her. Not a big three-point shooter, but she can rebound, defend and is unstoppable inside the paint.
