The Public School vs Private School Challenge is the most unique and iconic tournament in the country. No one but Coach Al can create this type of competition between these two specific groups of schools. Conventional wisdom says that the private schools would have the clear advantage but the reality is the the outcome is typically around 50-50.   Here are the top Point Guards from the Public vs Private Challenge    Mariah's point guard skills are solid on both ends of the ball. On defense she locked up the opposing point guards getting her team extra opportunities with steal turning many of them into points. She created her own offense off the dribble and dropped multiple three pointers even when closely guarded. She showed good vision on her drives keeping her eyes up for flashing teammates.     Maria moves well with the ball. She handles well using both hands pushing the ball up court. Her passes were crisp and she used her size to go inside to grab rebounds. She had a nice shot with range to knock down the three.     Kahlan had a nice consistent form on her shot keeping it even under pressure. She used it to nail a three at the buzzer at the end of the first setting the stage for the victory over Severna Park. She makes shots off the catch and dribble and is vocal getting her teammates in position to run the offense.     Brooklyn stayed under control running the offense to precision. She she was verry effective from beyond the arc knocking down the three. Her scoring led to half of her teams points even though she missed significant time with foul trouble. She has speed and moves fast with or without the ball in her hands which helps her get space as the defender has to respect the blow by.     Karmen made multiple plays at the rim starting the game off with a nice inside hand finish in traffic. She knocked down the three pointer on the ball reversal and off the inbound pass. Defensively she was on the ball and in the passing lanes converting steals into points. She had a solid showing in the loss to Pikesville.     De'ja played a complete game at the point. She distributed the ball when needed seeming to always make the correct play. She showed the ability to beat traps as well as get off her own shot. Defensively she stayed played solid and was always in position to deny or deflect passes. The word is that she has been having a solid year and it showed.
