The First Coast was humming last week with high-level basketball. District Finals and other strong matchups brought excitement to the area. Shooting was on display at the beaches, an unexpected blowout occurred around the corner, and defense and transition play were supreme in Clay county. Also, at the Potters's House, DME was in town and players continued to perform and mold their game as the season winds down. In this article, we take a look at several players who stood out during last week's action and made winning plays when it mattered most.

[player_tooltip player_id='912252' first='Naomi' last='Gill'] showed the clutch gene of a seasoned upperclassmen. In a game where the youngsters on both teams made splashes, Gill's fourth quarter made huge waves. At times the freshman took over primary ball-handling duties and was a catalyst late in the game. She attacked downhill, got to the rim repeatedly, knocked down a pull-up jumper, and finished a smooth reverse layup in traffic. Defensively she added steals that helped keep the opponent at bay. What stood out most was her poise — she didn't play like a freshman. Her quickness, first-step, and scoring ability became a matchup problem down the stretch. Speed and heart don't carry a class designation and Gill's performance reminded everyone of that.

[player_tooltip player_id='987643' first='Avriana' last='Lundy'] gave Potter's House an efficient scoring lift, getting to her spots cleanly and knocking down multiple perimeter jumpers. The shooting guard also showed touch in the midrange and craftiness to get into the heart of the defense for some easy scoring opportunities. What stood out most was her feel for scoring. She showed an ability to produce points in short stretches regardless of the amount of playing time.

[player_tooltip player_id='1363115' first='Chloe' last='Spencer-Gardner'] delivered one of the top performances of the week, knocking down seven three-pointers in the District Finals. Known primarily for doing the little things — defending, bringing energy, and handling the dirty work that helps teams win — she showed another dimension of her game. Throughout the season, Spencer-Gardner has impacted winning beyond the stat sheet, but during the finals, the glue player showed versatility and sent a message that will stick with future opponents- she is capable of taking over when the opportunity presents itself.

Jocelyn Hoffmann delivered her usual performance when it mattered most, finishing with 21 points and knocking down four triples. Hoffmann balanced scoring with six assists and added five rebounds, showing command of the game while still getting buckets. This output has been consistent with her season. The sophomore has been a steady leader all year, handling the ball with confidence, making sound decisions, and getting to the rim with creativity. She's one of the top shooters and point guards in her class and she is a strong candidate for hardware by the end of the season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1741000' first='Jasmine' last='Salcedo'] displayed elite athleticism in the short time I saw her in the District Finals. She displayed a good understanding of the game, showed very good ball handling skills, moved the ball efficiently, stayed active defensively, and showed the quickness to contain attacking guards on the perimeter. Her lateral movement was very good and she has the quickness to defend downhill players without needing extra help — an important trait in postseason matchups. As playoff games progress and her team faces more experienced and faster guards, Salcedo's skill set will be a plus for her team.

[player_tooltip player_id='864101' first='Jayda' last='Parker'] showcased her versatility against DME. . On the block she displayed some impressive footwork, converting spin moves and finishing through contact. She ran the floor well in transition and was active on defense, recording multiple blocks while protecting the paint. Her impact wasn't limited to inside with the bigs - she stepped out to defend on the perimeter and even stretched the floor with a three point swish. Parker influenced the game on both ends, serving as both a scoring option and a defensive anchor.
