The first game was #2 seed&nbsp;<strong>Millennium</strong>&nbsp;taking on #11 seed&nbsp;<strong>Canyon View&nbsp;</strong>followed by #1 seed&nbsp;<strong>Perry</strong>&nbsp;taking on #4&nbsp;<strong>Sandra Day O'Connor.</strong>&nbsp;Millennium won&nbsp;<strong>48-37</strong>&nbsp;and Sandra Day O'Connor won&nbsp;<strong>45-40.</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Here were the upperclassmen standouts</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='751754' first='Dashia' last='Richardson'] Millennium (Pictured) </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A scoring point guard took over the game from the jump. She is very strong, deceptively quick and skilled. She will hit the three, she uses her shifty handle to get downhill&nbsp;and has a tough mid-range pull up&nbsp;with nice elevation. She rebounds well and will take charges. She scored 16 points.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='751756' first='Jayda' last='Hunt'] Millennium </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A tough two-way power forward will control the paint with rebounding in and out of her area, runs the floor, blocks shots and will score with put backs. She can defend multiple positions and brings a motor to the court.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='780442' first='Trinity' last='Jones'] Perry </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A power forward who is arguably the most athletic player in the entire AIA. She covers a lot of ground on defense and will outrace most girls. She blocks shots in bunches, rebounds at a high level and collects steals in bunches. She scores with rip thrus and transition buckets.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='608219' first='Bella' last='Burcar'] Perry</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A highly skilled wing forward who can score with threes off the catch and rebound the ball well in her area. She gets herself to the free throw line with downhill drives scoring thru the contact. She will also collect steals and is a good passer. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='780451' first='Novelle' last='McQuiston'] Perry </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the most versatile wing forwards can score, defend and facilitate. She will take the ball off the glass and push it up the court with her tight handle&nbsp;and make a play. She scores with fall aways and tough layups in traffic with her strong frame. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='791132' first='Alexis' last='Fenn'] Perry&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A cerebral power forward who knows how to play. She will score with off the ball cuts, crash the glass and score with offensive rebound put backs. She runs the floor and will get out in transition to score or get to the free throw line. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='979540' first='Teriise' last='Lancaster'] Sandra Day O'Connor </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A scoring lead guard who will score with deep threes with no conscience. She will keep shooting it and letting it fly with her super aggressive attitude. She can also get a step on her defender to the basket and score plus rebounds well for a guard. She scored 16 points.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='603672' first='Audrey' last='Bhesania'] Sandra Day O'Connor </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the most versatile wing forwards will score with coast to coast takes, threes off the catch or pull and mid-range jumpers. She will also fight hard inside to rebound and block shots or score with put backs. She scored 10 points.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='723419' first='Ava' last='Schooler'] Sandra Day O'Connor</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A true combo guard can score and make smart reads to teammates. She is a two-way player who will collect steals and rebounds well in her area. She will score with tough and-1 floaters, &nbsp;fast&nbsp;break&nbsp;layups and get to the free throw line. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='608452' first='Bernadette' last='Carranza'] Canyon View&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A scoring lead guard who will fill it up from the three point line off the catch. She has a quick first step and get downhill to the basket to score or get to the free throw line. She is scrappy on defense to collect steals and rebounds well. She is a fierce on-ball star defender&nbsp;with her quicker feet, speed, twitch and length. She is an incredible rebounder in and out of her area. She will score with downhill takes and in transition. She scored 8 points.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='608450' first='Jaila' last='Flowers'] Canyon View</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A tough power forward is a high motored player that rebounds in and out of her area with good hands and a lot of toughness. She will rip thru to score with contact and get trips to the free throw line. She will take charges and collect steals. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='754708' first='Azalee' last='Alvarado-Tellez'] Canyon View </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A versatile combo guard plays and defends multiple positions for the Jaguars. She will score with threes and is quick enough to get a step on her defender to get to the basket. She rebounds well and is a pest on defense collecting 4 steals. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->

Tuesday, March 3rd I attended the semi finals of the OPEN. The first game was #2 seed Millennium taking on #11 seed Canyon View followed by #1 seed Perry taking on #4 Sandra Day O'Connor. Millennium won 48-37 and Sandra Day O'Connor won 45-40.
