It's looking more and more like Natalie Schechinger is going to be the main leader for Iowa City Liberty this upcoming Winter with the prospects they have returning to their roster along with a new HC. Schechinger is a talented PG, that does a great job of leading the charge for those around her. She sets up everyone for success with her communication coming down the floor and she can get her own if need be. She does the small things really well like rebounding, defending, and creating, while only getting better as she has gotten older. This is someone that I think Liberty can build around. They will all have to buy into their new system under one common goal, but if they can do that, they should see a lot of success into this Winter.

SE Polk is another program that will have a new HC in charge, along with a new system on both sides of the ball as a whole. Someone that I expect to put up big numbers for the Rams throughout the Winter once again will be Brooklyn Ruddy. Ruddy has been a standout on the hardwood ever since she has seen Varsity minutes as a Freshman. She is a multi-sport athlete, that has a ton of energy and a long battery life as a competitor. She never seems to get tired and that is contagious to those around her. This group will have playmakers at every grade level on their roster moving into this school year. If they do things the right way and their defense travels, they should be able to win some meaningful games this upcoming season as a whole.

We expect Hinton to be in the 2A State conversation once again this next season with the talented and loaded roster they will have on hand. They will have prospects at every position, that could absolutely dominant and take over a contest within the blink of an eye. That's going to be tough for other 2A schools to matchup with but we will see. At their C/PF position someone that is worth noting for another year in a row is Raelyn Kempema. Kempema comes in at 6'1 with muscle mass to pair along with that height. She is versatile enough to move to the outside for screening action but either way, it doesn't matter. Defenses have to worry about her or else it's going to be a rough deal early on for whoever it is. Keep Kempema on your radar. She plays some good ball and her size is noteworthy. It should be able to take her places at the next level in the near future if those are her aspirations.

It's going to be all about a young core this Winter at Dowling Catholic as they try to make up for the lost production of recent graduate, Ellie Muller. Someone that should step onto the court for a good amount of play timing is Molly Austin. Austin mainly moves off of the ball and produces at the 2 or 3 position. She can bring the ball up and be the PG but they have better PG's on roster so I'd assume when she gets onto the court, it's going to mainly be as the 2 or 3. Austin is going to have to continue to be a player of opportunity from the outside. She will need to move into space off the ball at a steady rate. If she can do that, others will find her for easy and open shot attempts. Defensively, she is going to do whatever she is asked to the best of her ability and that is something that should standout throughout the Winter as a whole.

Brynn Clarahan has two Varsity seasons under her belt at Sigourney High School and in both of those seasons she stood out as their main producer on both offense and defense. Clarahan's feel for the game is natural. She knows what to do and when. It's more natural than the level of most of the competition she has to play during the high school season and that stands out whenever you watch the Sigourney group hoop. I don't think we should expect anything different this Winter out of this one. She is going to have the rock a majority of the time and she is going to produce so now it's just about how far she can take the group come Playoff time.

One of the most well rounded players for Bondurant-Farrar High School will be Kaylee Hanson. Hanson stands right around 6'0 and she competes as a CG/SF for whichever team she is lacing up with. She is one of the more coordinated players that the state of Iowa has to offer out of the 2028 Class and when you combined that with natural size, you get an intriguing situation. It's not crazy to think that Hanson will be a collegiate committed player before she graduated the high school ranks. She checks a few boxes that college coaches would have and she should only continue to get better with experience as an upperclassmen.
