It's going to be a big upcoming Winter for Ali Aguirre of Ankeny High School. Aguirre, the skilled CG standing at 6'1, was a secondary option last season as a Freshman because of their team's upperclassmen leadership. That won't be the case this Winter. This time around she will need to be their main producer on both sides if their group wants to be good once again. They bring in a new coach, with a great previous track record as a player so as long as everyone hops on board to have one common goal throughout the season, they should be just fine. In this Update Aguirre holds onto the #6 spot in this Class. She has had a respectable AAU so far moving into July and I'm sure there is still a lot more to come before summer comes to an end.

Another hooper that will be looked upon as another top-notch option for their Varsity team this upcoming Winter will be Niki Muller at Dowling Catholic High School. Muller came onto the scene last season and she held her own at a steady rate. She showed her worth as a length prospect competing from the outside and she got better as the season went on towards the post season. Muller will be option #2 this season if she makes the right moves leading up to it. She is a three level scoring threat, that can get after it as a defender and rebounder as well. I expect Muller to follow in the footsteps of her older sisters. She should continue to grow and continue to get better with experience out on the floor as she gets older. If that is the case, she has a bright, bright future within this game. All she has to do is continue to work in her down-time.

If you are talking about the most skilled prospect in the 2029 Class, pound-for-pound, then Quinn Sievers of Newell-Fonda is in the conversation. Sievers was apart of the Mustangs team last Winter that won the 1A State Title and she played a major role in that success. Offensively, this is your PG #1. She can control pace of play, she can create for all of those around her, she is a willing rebounder, and she can score in the boatloads. Defensively, she is a scrapper. She is willing to get into her opponents physically and that plays a difference down the stretch of big contests, usually leading to a bunch of Turnovers by the opponent in one way or another. Sievers will have a shot to be the 1A P.O.T.Y. this upcoming season. She is really that good. If she stays mentally locked in, she is going to put up even better numbers this Winter and her team will be the favorite to win the 1A State Title once again.

Most out of the state of Iowa haven't seen Aubrey Meyer competing this AAU season because she is playing out of Missouri but trust me, she is doing her thing and making her mark whenever she takes the floor. Meyer's team has been dominant and she has been nails on both sides of the ball. She is competing like a versatile prospect, doing whatever is asked of her. At times she is competing from the 3 spot and on the outside but if she ever has a mismatch, she isn't afraid to move to the Post to score with ease over a smaller defender. Defensively, she is staying consistent. She is rebounding when near the hoop and pushing the pace whenever she can down the floor. All in all, we are going to hear a lot about Meyer's this Winter. She is going to put up some numbers against her competition level and I can't wait to see that first hand but for now - she will move to the #9 spot in this Update.

We are looking for another big Winter season out of Hayden Keith out Ottumwa High School. The reality is that Ottumwa only had a few tough contests last season but that didn't change the fact that Keith produced every time they played. She was their main Guard threat from the outside and she demonstrated throughout the season that she can be their go-to in meaningful moments down the stretch. Some athletes can't handle pressure when it comes, both literally and metaphorically, but that's not Keith. She more-so welcomes it and that's going to help her put together a long and successful career within this sport if she sticks with it.
