Charley separated herself during the 3v3 segment, and that trajectory continued throughout the day. She drove hard to the basket, absorbed the contact, and finished at the rim. Charley kicked the ball out to the corner for an assist, and put her defender on skates with a shifty between-the-legs crossover, then blew by to score the layup with a fluid left-handed finish. In games, she kept standing out. Charley used a sweet fake-pass move to score a layup, raced up the court after securing rebounds to cause fouls, and dropped in a floater off two feet after grabbing the offensive board. Charley demonstrated excellent split footwork on the catch that enabled her to rip by quickly. She stared down the rim, used a head fake, then went by to score a tough layup off two feet without the backboard’s help. Her active defense created deflections and steals. She rocked the baby to sleep on a silky smooth scoop finish at the rim, and had a college coach so excited that he said I should take her picture twice. Charley was a complete game changer for Team 8 at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase and will be an electric prospect in the Chelsea prospect this winter.

The first time I saw Charley play at Michigan Premier practice left a lasting impression. She looks like an immediate plug-and-play at the varsity level. Crafty footwork, advanced ball-handling combo moves, aggressive slasher, good touch around the basket, a high motor on both ends, and the ability to stretch the floor with her outside shots, Charley is on watch for a breakout day at the PGH Freshman Showcase.

Chelsea has a scrappy, young backcourt and Charley will be a phenomenal addition for the Bulldogs. She was one of the most impressive prospects on the court at Michigan Premier practice and her multidimensional impact will translate very well to high school basketball. Charley handles the ball with excellent control and has a variety of combo moves in her toolbox. She sees the court as an effective court general, creates space with shifty quickness, and dices up defenses to score with touch at the rim. Charley’s a perimeter threat, applies great pressure on the defensive end, and attacks in transition.

Charley made quite the impression at Michigan Premier practice. She knocked down mid-range jumpers and threes with confidence. I noted her speed, quickness laterally to pester ball-handlers, ability to penetrate off the dribble, good ball pressure, and balanced footwork on step-back threes. She switches hands comfortably and creates space to attack using a variety of crossovers, pocket dribbles, and spin moves. Charley pushed the tempo, using shifty, low crossovers, and long pushout dribbles with both hands in transition. She ran hard during sprints and was consistently at the front of the group. Charley split the gap with a burst to score layups and showed off her touch on a soft floater. She drained a mid-range jumper and a smooth wing three. Charley made the hustle plays and competed for loose balls.
