Shining Stars at 695Hoops Family Reunion Showcase

Unfortunately, only one MVP award could be given per team, but there were plenty of players who turned in MVP worthy performances. These young ladies stood out among their peers with their play on the court and showed why their names are worth remembering. Each looks to be on track for an outstanding season this year, with the talent and potential to eventually take their game to the next level. Here are some of the shining stars who caught my attention at the 695Hoops Family Reunion Showcase.    Aubree turned in an MVP worthy performance, finishing with a day-high 19 points. Playing up with the middle school group, she looked right at home against the older competition. After winning back-to-back MVP awards in her previous appearances, she could have easily walked away with a third. Aubree is a special player who had her way with the field, finding different ways to score and consistently making her presence felt. Already holding multiple Division I offers as a rising seventh grader, she continues to show why her name is one to remember.     Kamori is deceptively quick and nimble for her size, and she is also a good ball handler. She has the size and strength of a power forward but moves up and down the floor like a guard. Her versatility was on full display as she played all five positions during the showcase and finished with 16 points, scoring in a variety of ways. She created some of her own scoring opportunities by attacking the offensive glass and turning rebounds into second-chance points. Her combination of size, strength, and mobility makes her a tough matchup because she can impact the game from several different spots on the floor.     Braylin was one of the top players in the building regardless of class. She finished with 12 points in the middle school game, showing her range from beyond the arc along with the ability to attack the basket and finish. She was just as impressive on the defensive end, covering a lot of ground and hawking the ball handler with constant pressure. Braylin played with confidence on both ends of the floor and never looked out of place against the older competition. Her two-way ability and overall feel for the game made her one of the more impressive players I watched throughout the showcase.     Khloe was strong inside, playing much bigger than her listed 5'9" height. She used her strength to muscle smaller players in the paint but also showed some finesse with a nice up-and-under move to finish. Defensively, she displayed good timing as a shot blocker, even getting a hand on a jumper away from the basket. Khloe was exceptional on the glass, securing rebounds and quickly getting the ball up the court with the outlet pass to ignite transition. Her combination of strength, timing, and activity allowed her to make an impact on both ends of the floor.     Somaya flirted with MVP honors, picking up some early votes with the way she was making plays on both ends of the floor. She knocked down shots from beyond the arc and showed a high motor by following her own misses for putbacks. Playing with the 2029 team against the 2028s, she finished with 12 points and never seemed bothered by the older competition. Somaya played with a lot of energy, and several of her best plays came simply from her effort and willingness to stay involved in the action. She brought the type of activity that was hard to overlook.     Kayden was smooth with her play, showing a level of confidence that made her look like she was a step ahead of everyone else on the floor. She scored from all three levels, finding gaps in the defense to unleash her mid-range shot, knocking down the three effortlessly, and getting to the basket for finishes. She also ran the point well, sharing the ball and consistently getting it to her teammates in position to score. Kayden never looked rushed and seemed to have a good feel for when to create for herself and when to get others involved. She finished with 16 points in an impressive all-around performance.
