The PGH Expo: Team 8 Evaluations

She made many plays to help Team 8 compete at The Expo on Saturday. Melanin showed her ability to distribute, dishing multiple bounce passes to teammates through traffic. She pressured opposing ball-handlers and created several steals. Melanin outworked everyone to secure an offensive rebound, then paused and exploded by her defender for a smooth scoop layup off the dribble. Caitlin pushed the ball quickly in transition and used a nifty high pick-up eurostep to score a contested layup. Caitlin drove hard from the wing to cause a foul and made an effective bounce pass to her teammate in transition. She moved her feet to cut off a drive and closed out high to force a missed shot and pushed the ball quickly in transition after securing a defensive rebound. Rachel showed her ability to set up teammates with her dribble and make solid passes during the 3v3 segment. Gracyn froze the defender by pausing on the wing and then shifted gears to drive by her using a crossover dribble. She closed out hard on the perimeter to force a turnover and buried a smooth corner 3. Breanna brought aggression and intensity, creating many steals on defense and attacking defenders off the dribble. She buried a straightaway three, knocked down free throws, and pushed the ball full speed to score off two in the paint. Brynn demonstrated excellent footwork in the paint, scoring multiple drop-step finishes including an and-one off two. Brynn converted a contested layup in transition off two feet and caused a foul driving to the basket to earn free throws. She showed her range by adding a smooth corner and wing 3. Kara elevated to high point a defensive rebound and secured many boards during the day. She showed her confidence pushing the ball with few dribbles in transition and delivered crisp passes to teammates running up the wings. Kara sealed her defender for an entry pass to draw a foul and converted her free throw. She blocked multiple shots in the paint and played unselfish basketball. Madisyn showed her toughness by sliding in front of a drive to take a charge. She swiped many steals guarding the ball to score transition layups and split defenders with a low crossover dribble to score a contested layup.
