Skutt Catholic has taken a step back this Winter since coming off of their title last season. They have a new staff and a new lineup for the most part. Last Winter they won a State Title but during that run they didn’t play many underclassman, which is costing them now. Someone that is having a nice start to her Sophomore season is Penny Currans Penny Currans 5'9" | SG/PF Skutt Catholic | 2028 State NE though. Currans is doing all that she can. She is playing with high energy and really being a positive influence while trying to produce for those around her. She might not be the tallest but Currans has heart. She knows what it takes to be a Champion and she is trying to instill that into the rest of the program. In this Update, Currans jumps into our Top 40 at #39. A respectable spot as we move into 2026.

Penny Currans Penny Currans 5'9" | SG/PF Skutt Catholic | 2028 State NE was one of the best shooters, especially when it came to the 5v5 games on Sunday. Currans hit several threes in a row in one of the games.
Penny gets her feet set and shoots a repeatable shot that works for her.
She is also a good hustle player who gives effort on both sides of the ball.

Penny Currans Penny Currans 5'9" | SG/PF Skutt Catholic | 2028 State NE has a nice set of skills as a CG on the outside. There were a number of occasions at this event when Currans showed a powerful move, that ultimately lead her to an open attempt on the offensive end. She kept her head on a swivel and stuck to what she did best, which helped her show out as a solid prospect overall. Defensively, Currans also got after it, sticking to her defender like white on rice, Neve giving them an inch down the floor. This is someone that has a strong mental game to follow up all the physical stuff. She seems to have it pretty much together in whatever she wants to do and that’s impressive for someone that is only going to be a Sophomore this Winter.

Skutt Catholic returns this Winter and they are looking to make some waves, per usual. They will rotate in a seasoned group at the Varsity level but someone to know from their 2028 Class is Penny Currans Penny Currans 5'9" | SG/PF Skutt Catholic | 2028 State NE . We have mentioned Currans during this Fall as being someone to know and we are sticking by that. This is a player that is better than your average at the guard position. She isn’t the tallest but she works hard and she seems to make a mark on any contest that she participates in. If she can find her niche in Skutt’s system early on, she will light it up and be someone we speak highly about for years to come.

I have always spoken highly about the up and coming prospects in the Skutt High School program and

is another one to know about. I wasn’t familiar with Currans play-style prior to this event but she stood out to her coaches as a top player on the floor in more than one of her contests throughout the day, leaving the standing impression on everyone spectating that she is going to be a producer, down the line at the Varsity level. This program will return their main producer from last season in
