Over the next several weeks, prior to the high school season kicking off, we are going to highlight a prospect on each team throughout the state of Iowa, that is vital to the success of their Varsity program over the next six months. To start things off, we are going to lock in with the biggest Class in the state and that is the 5A Class. In this specific piece, we highlight the schools of Waterloo West, Waukee, Cedar Falls, Sioux City North, Cedar Rapids - Prairie, Cedar Rapids - Kennedy, Ankeny, and Pleasant Valley.

[player_tooltip player_id='582805' first='Karis' last='Finley'] returns to Cedar Falls as the team's best option on both sides of the ball, even though they are going to have some dawgs on their roster. Finley possesses a steady handle of the ball, great awareness of what to do, and she defends like her life depends on it at times. This is the only D1 commit that her program currently has and I'm excited to see how she fairs once she gets to that level. As for this season, they will go as far as Finley takes them in the grand scheme of things. She has been a constant on their team since a young age and that isn't going to change for her Junior campaign.

For Waukee to make a big State run this upcoming season, it's going to be a total team effort but one of their more experienced prospects that is going to be looked upon in big moments is SG - [player_tooltip player_id='311372' first='Emilie' last='Sorensen']. Sorensen can light it up from deep with her shooting ability, she can produce off of the ball in the screening-game, and she can make the right choice in bigger moments down the stretch. More than anything else, what this team brings to the floor is a high level shooting ability. If they are having a night where they are making shots, it's going to be a long one for anyone who is matched up across from them.

I could go on and on about how dominant Nakia Ollivierre is going to be this upcoming Winter season but I'd rather just watch and see it unfold first hand. Ollivierre is athletic at the max, she has a game that is built on a solid foundation, and she has a calculated aggressive style on both ends of the floor. Up until this point, she has really handled anyone that has come her way, at both a state and national level so I'm sure she is ready to put on a show for anyone that is willing to watch.

[player_tooltip player_id='342205' first='Jayla' last='Williams'] returns as one of the state's permier prospects for her Junior season at Ankeny High School and she is ready to make a statement. Williams is someone with several D1 offers at this point in her journey and she is just looking to put together another winning high school season. When we talk about players and their best ability, what stands out about Williams is her act for playing stifling defense, while being a handful on the offensive side of the ball as she attacks the bucket. This team is going to win because of their Will over the next six months and Williams will be in the front of that, leading the charge.

As a Freshman last Winter, [player_tooltip player_id='863288' first='Aurora' last='Koch'] competed at the Small Forward position and made her mark on the Varsity program. This Winter, Koch is going to return with the confidence that she is going to be a prime player in her team's system until she graduates. This is one of the taller prospect within her program, no matter of age and that is a big reason, along with her balance and coordination, that she has seen success up until this point. With her recipe to success, she just has to keep it simple moving forward. If she does that and continues to grow her play-style, she is going to do just fine.

I could justify putting a number of players in this spot for Cedar Rapids Prairie but I'm going to lean on the fact that [player_tooltip player_id='502096' first='KeaOnna' last='Worley'] will have the ball in her possession a majority of the time, therefore she is going to really have to control things for her Hawks team this Winter. Worley is one of the best 2027 PG's that Iowa has to offer. She can handle with a smooth skill set, she can knock down open jumpers, and she can create with a sound dribble and nifty passing ability. Defensively, her quick hands lead to a lot of steals against slower opponents and that leads to more opportunities for her teammates on offense as a whole. This team has 5-8 collegiate level players this upcoming Winter. Now it'll all be about how they gel and how they are used in certain situations by the coaching staff.

[player_tooltip player_id='311378' first='Ella' last='Moser'] is committed to attend Chardon following her high school career but first, she is going to be looked at as a Senior leader at Kennedy High School for one more go around over the next six months. Moser is a smart prospect. Someone you can trust on the floor and someone that isn't going to hurt you with dumb mistakes throughout a ball game. Over the past three years, no matter who Moser has laced up against, she has done pretty well and been productive in her own right so there is no reason to think it will go any different over this next season.

Pleasant Valley High School is looking for revenge after recently winning the 5A State Title two years ago. One of the prospects that was younger at that time, who means quite a lot to this group this Winter is Forward - [player_tooltip player_id='617226' first='Quinn' last='Vice']. Vice is a 6'3 prospect, that can mix it up from the inside or the outside. The biggest question surrounding Vice and this team in general will be her production in the middle. At 6'3, she is one of the tallest and most coordinated individuals in the state. If she is used that way and her shooting ability comes second, then I think they are going to be very tough to beat on any given night. That's why I have Vice in this spot and not others necessarily, who I would also usually consider.
