The Maryland Private School State Basketball Tournament kicked off with four big matchups on a Tuesday at Elizabeth Seton. Some of the DMV's heavy high school hitters suited up for one last round of bump against local competition. Here are some of the standout performers.

[player_tooltip player_id='303118' first='Sydney' last='Sutton'], St. Frances, 2026, Guard

Sydney was spectacular in this game. She played 28 minutes and put up 29 points on 11 for 15 shooting. Yes, you read that right. She also made all five of her free throw attempts in one of the most efficient games you'll see from a high school player. She was all over the court and did not force anything on offense. College coaches definitely took notice.

[player_tooltip player_id='332124' first='Amora' last='Alston'], St. Frances, 2025, Point Guard

Amora turned in a solid performance 11 points on 5-11 shooting. She ran the offense smoothly while logging five assists to only one turnover.

[player_tooltip player_id='940360' first='Ayana' last='Tabb'], Rosedale Christian Academy, 2026, Power Forward

Ayana battled St. Frances' frontcourt all game long and held her own. The physical lefty was looking for contact all game on her way to 11 points and 9 rebounds before fouling out.

[player_tooltip player_id='239453' first='Zhen' last='Craft'], Bishop McNamara, 2025, Wing

The versatile forward went to work early on St. Mary's Ryken on her way to a short, but efficient night. She posted 15 points and 10 rebounds in only 14 minutes in a game that got out of hand quickly. The Georgia recruit showed off the full package and reminded everyone why she's ranked so high.

[player_tooltip player_id='303119' first='Meghan' last='Yarnevich'], Bullis, 2025, Forward

Meghan had a dominant offensive performance and did most of her damage in the paint. She knocked down her only three-point attempt on her way to a 10-15 overall shooting night. She had a game high 25 points and chipped in 4 rebounds as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='1121031' first='Tiara' last='Thompson'], Mt. Zion, 2026, Point Guard

One of my favorite guards in the area, Tiara put on an offensive display in round one. She scored a game high 22 points which included going 3-8 from behind the three-point line and 8-16 overall. She has the complete package on offense and is a strong defender as well, pilfering 5 steals in this game.
