Nyla Tatum starts off as the #1 prospect in the 2028 Class in the state and mainly because she has every tool to lead a team in every facet of the game. Tatum is a PG standing at 5'7 with a nasty but efficient handle, great mental awareness, and a higher motor than most her age. Offensively, she can either be a walking bucket or a top notch facilitator to those around her. Defensively, she can lock up in the full court, half court, or within any defense that her team might be using. She jumps to the ball with great instincts and that stands out on every court she is competing on. Coming off of a very impressive freshman run with her Bellevue West varsity team, Tatum will stick with her ETG Midwest [program_tooltip program_id='713325' first='Elite' last=''] 3SSB group for travel season as their PG. This team is loaded with stars so it'll be fun to see how Tatum leads that group.

One of the most impressive offensive players that I witnessed all Winter long was [player_tooltip player_id='882862' first='Alivia' last='Kuhn'] of Marian High School. Kuhn has a deep bag on O. Deep might even be an understatement. I saw Kuhn pull out some moves this Winter offensively, that some college prospects can't even pull off. This is one of those players that would be defined as a microwave out on the hardwood. When she see's one go in early, you better watch out because she might have the game of her career if she is feeling herself. I wouldn't say anything she does is tricky. She just understands tight situations and how to get into open space in those situations. Always looking like a seasoned vet while doing what she can do help the squad. Kuhn is going to travel into Iowa this Spring/Summer to compete with All Iowa Attack out of Des Moines. Attack plays some of the best competition in the Country every season so it'll be interesting to see how Kuhn does with those types of others around her. I actually had the chance to see Kuhn prior to high school and she was a standout against some of the top players out of Iowa. It wouldn't be surprise me if she has an AAU season to remember and her recruitment really takes off from here.

[player_tooltip player_id='882863' first='Payton' last='Dolliver'] stepped onto the Varsity scene this Winter and made her mark with Malcolm High School. Dolliver comes in as a PG/SG, depending what you need from her. Mainly she works off the ball to start her team's offense, receiving it right away and then getting a ball screen with some space so that she can work within the flow of the offense. It's also important to note that is a player that you can't defend by going under screens. You have to go over and chase her or else she will step back and hit a couple three pointers before you know it. Next Winter when [player_tooltip player_id='757558' first='Halle' last='Dolliver'] joins Malcolm once again off injury, this is going to be a very intriguing duo to watch as I'm sure they are going to make some Waves once the State Playoffs start.

The best defensive prospect that this Class has to offer at this time is [player_tooltip player_id='884638' first='Stevie' last='Harley'] of Bellevue West at the Small Forward position. Harley is a menace near the paint on both sides of the ball. She is a consistent rebounder on each end, she is always stalking the middle of the lane looking for a block when the opponent looks for a bucket at the rim, and she possesses great length + athletic ability to recover into space if someone gets beat while trying to defend. This Winter Harley's numbers reflected the type of player she is. If she can round out her offensive game and work on keeping it simple, she is going to be someone to watch throughout her high school career these next few years.

"The role on your team is not what you are best at, it's what you are best at while helping you team succeed." I've used this quote a few times as a writer and I think it applies here. [player_tooltip player_id='882864' first='Allie' last='John'] of Bennington didn't have the season she might of imagined but she did her job, she stood out as one of the most consistent freshman in the state while having an injury, and her team used their system to make it to the State Tournament. All impressive things from an evaluation standpoint. I am curious how John is going to come into the AAU season. If she plays to her full potential and gets to play her true position, then I think everyone will see why she rounds off this Top Five for the 2028 Class. John has great size between 6'0/6'1, she can post and bruise down-low against someone smaller, or she can step out and hit a jumper from different levels when she has a Forward with more size on her. This versatility is what really catches the eye of anyone paying attention. Now she just needs to keep on working from here.
