PGH Peach Games: 15U Standouts from Saturday (Part 1)

The opening weekend of May is a busy one for the Prep Girls Hoops Circuit.    A grand total of four events were taking place. The Duel for the Dynasty in Dallas, the Champions Challenge in Wisconsin, the Grassroots in Gem City which occurred in Ohio and Peach Games in Atlanta.    This season's Peach Games version once again utilized a multitude of venues – including the Next 360 facility, Marietta HS and Marietta MS.    Among the long list of talent that was on hand were standouts from the 15U ranks. Without further ado, here is our list of 15U top performers from the first day of this year's Peach Games.    At times, early morning rust can sap a player's performance. That was not the case for this rising talent out of Mount Paran Christian. Her [program_tooltip program_id='713173' first='Wood' last='Elite'] 15U Howren team picked up the 43-24 victory over Team XYZ Golden Youth Eagles Basketball Organization 15U in one of the initial contests of this year's Peach Games and she tallied 10 points which greatly helped en route to victory. It may not be conventional to see too many who stand at 5-foot-9 with 3-point shooting capabilities, but Howren certainly has those. She also managed to make plays in transition and has no problems drawing contact to get to the free throw line. Her Mount Paran Christian team finished the 2024-25 season with a robust 26-5 record.      McCurry did her major part in ensuring one of the first winners of the 2025 version of Peach Games would be her [program_tooltip program_id='713173' first='Wood' last='Elite'] 15U Howren assembling. With 14 points, the 4A Cartersville standout paved the way to her team's first victory of the day – a 43-24 decision over another Georgia team in Team XYZ Golden Youth Eagles Basketball Organization 15U. The opposing team's offense could do very little in terms of containing her 3-point shooting capabilities. One of the triples she connected on during that game became a four-point play given she was fouled and went to the free throw line. As effective a long-range specialist as she is, she is every bit as effective as a passer.      Woods was one of our top performers from last year's version of Peach Games and she is that once again. A standout from 4A Maynard Jackson, she is tough to contend with on either end of the floor. Woods understands the art of making plays in the transition game. She is also highly confident in her 3-point shooting capabilities. Defensively, she can match an opposing ball carrier step for step. Woods is listed at 5-foot-6 and thrives as a two guard. A 3-point shot is part of her overall offensive arsenal and she is also unafraid of drawing contact which can place her at the free throw line.      Team XYZ Golden Youth Eagles Basketball Organization 15U may not have began this year's Peach Games the way it wanted to as it was on the receiving end of a 43-24 decision at the hands of [program_tooltip program_id='713173' first='Wood' last='Elite'] 15U Howren. The young standout out of 2A Therrell did everything she could to ensure her team would begin this year's event at 1-0. Baisden displayed her quickness from start to finish and also showcased how proficient of a passer she. Making plays in transition is another key element of Baisden's complete game and she too has no problems drawing contact to get to the free throw line.      [program_tooltip program_id='713618' first='Macon' last='Mystics'] 15U made sure to get its time at Peach Games started in emphatic fashion. The team from central Georgia began its Saturday play with a 65-29 victory over Team Unleashed South Carolina and Jenkins led the charge with a 16-point performance. Out of the 16 she scored, 10 occurred in the first half of play. At 5-foot-11, she presents an imposing height advantage. The standout from Bleckley County not only can make plays in the interior, she also has a midrange jumper as part of her offensive arsenal. She can play a variety of positions on the court – including at the two, three and wing.      Stanley was another noteworthy name that came up big in [program_tooltip program_id='713618' first='Macon' last='Mystics']' Saturday morning rout of Team Unleashed South Carolina. She tallied 13 points in that 65-29 drubbing of the Palmetto State team. Stanley displayed from start to finish that she is unafraid of contact and has no problems going to the free throw line. Five of her 13 points occurred at the charity stripe. Stanley also steered clear of the referee's whistle herself as she was only called for one personal foul throughout the game. Stanley is also an accurate passer as well as a defensive playmaker.      Mace is a name well-known in Georgia high school hoops circles given she plays for one of the premier teams in the state in 4A Warner Robins. With nine points, she contributed greatly to the offensive onslaught that [program_tooltip program_id='713618' first='Macon' last='Mystics'] began Peach Games with, routing Team Unleashed South Carolina by a final of 65-29. Included in her skillset is her ability to slice through defenses and finish strong at the cup. Mace particularly made her presence known in the second half of the contest when she placed seven of her nine on the scoreboard. Included in that was her ability to get to the free throw line.      Dumas saw playing time in 28 games for a 4A Jones County team that concluded the 2024-25 campaign with a stellar 27-2 record. That has translated into Dumas providing stellar play on the grassroots circuit with [program_tooltip program_id='713618' first='Macon' last='Mystics'] 15U. Her team delivered a rout of Team Unleashed South Carolina with the final score being 65-29. She scored nine points and – in a show of consistency – those points were almost evenly distributed between the first and second halves. At 5-foot-10, Dumas displayed that she will be a name opposing teams will have to game plan for in the interior. She can provide valuable minutes for a team at either the three, four or five.      Ridge View was in the news recently when its now-former coach Terrence Gibson announced he was calling it a career with the Blazers. While the program is in a state of change, two Team Unleashed South Carolina standouts suggest that there is still a bright future in Columbia's northeastern realms. While Kinard's AAU team had a rough time against [program_tooltip program_id='713618' first='Macon' last='Mystics'] 15U, Kinard would score seven points as a bright spot for her team. She previously played on the junior varsity team at another 5A South Carolina Midlands school in Lugoff-Elgin. Included in her overall skillset is the ability to make things happen from long range.      Gilford is the other notable name from Ridge View that put together a stellar performance for her travel team despite an overall tough matchup against Georgia-based [program_tooltip program_id='713618' first='Macon' last='Mystics']. Gilford was the leading scorer for her team in that contest as she tallied eight points. Gilford is another who previously played on the junior varsity team. She was without a field goal in the first half of the game before displaying consistent scoring ability in the second half with all three of her field goals. Gilford also displayed her fearlessness with an ability to draw contact and get to the free throw line. Kinard and Gilford being names on the rise means optimism ought to spring eternal in View County.     If [program_tooltip program_id='713173' first='Wood' last='Elite'] 15U Howren's emphatic win to begin Peach Games was not a sign that it would be one of the teams to beat in 2028 play, its dominant victory over [program_tooltip program_id='713452' first='FBC' last=''] Team All In Sisterhood 15U made it clear. Arrington scored 11 points to ensure her team would have a pair of victories to begin the weekend. She began her performance in that contest with a 3-pointer then followed it up with several plays where she attacked the basket. Her primary position is at the point. Her athletic plate is very full between the volleyball and softball she plays at Heritage during the fall.       Brunetti will be another name to watch as she rises up through Georgia's high school basketball ranks. With her nine points she scored over [program_tooltip program_id='713452' first='FBC' last=''] Team All In Sisterhood 15U, she ensured that [program_tooltip program_id='713173' first='Wood' last='Elite'] 15U Howren would begin its Peach Games weekend with a 2-0 start. Brunetti is concluding her middle school career at Northwestern MS and will soon embark on her high school journey with the Eagles of 5A Milton. Brunetti will be adding her talents to a Milton assembling that was among the premier schools in Georgia last season – the Eagles were 24-7 in 2024-25.      When one is playing against 2028 competition as a 2030 that means one is doing something correct. Williams is not one's typical eighth grader-to-be. She stands at an even six feet and currently attends Long Cane MS in LaGrange. Williams' [program_tooltip program_id='713452' first='FBC' last=''] Team All In Sisterhood 15U group encountered plenty of tough luck against [program_tooltip program_id='713173' first='Wood' last='Elite'] 15U Howren early Saturday at Marietta HS, but she proved to be a bright spot by scoring seven points. Williams was a matchup problem because of her talent and her tall stature not to mention her willingness to draw contact to find her way to the free throw line.      Starting a showcase event with a win is always the ideal way to things started on the correct pair of sneakers. Thanks to the nine points that Jones-odeh scored to lift her All Alabama 15U team to a victory over [program_tooltip program_id='713452' first='FBC' last=''] Dynasty 15U, that was indeed the case. As a 2029, she is playing up in class and displays exactly why she deserves to test her skills against more experienced competition. Jones-odeh maintains a full athletic plate between her basketball play as well as her track and field, soccer and softball endeavors. Her ability to connect from long range, handle the ball, attack the rim and effectively distribute was on display a few weeks ago at the Roll Tide Rumble and it was once again at Peach Games.      Standouts from 6A Mae Jemison shined at the beginning of April at Roll Tide Rumble in Guntersville. The beginning of this year's Peach Games would follow a similar theme. Hickman was another of the nine-point scorers that ensured All Alabama 15U would beginning this year's event the right way with a win to dispatch [program_tooltip program_id='713452' first='FBC' last=''] Dynasty 15U. Hickman is a consistent threat to put crooked numbers on the board from deep and she is also a consistent threat to create additional possessions with the steals she can collect. Hickman approaches basketball with an understanding of the game and can be counted on to make clutch plays in big moments.      We remember what this queen of the court got accomplished for her All Alabama 15U team at the beginning of April in her home state at the Roll Tide Rumble. Weed continued her superb play at this year's annual Peach Games as she scored nine points en route to victory over [program_tooltip program_id='713452' first='FBC' last=''] Dynasty 15U. An attribute of her game that first drew our attention is how she can attack the basket and is willing to fall to the floor if it means completing a play. She is also more than willing to draw contact and get to the free throw line. As a guard, Weed also places particular emphasis on taking care of the ball to limit turnovers.      Tibbs is another of the notable players from 6A Mae Jemison that is a strong indication that winning ways for the Jaguars could be right around the corner. Tibbs, in All Alabama 15U's matchup with [program_tooltip program_id='713452' first='FBC' last=''] Dynasty 15U – was the team's leading scorer en route to its victory which made the team 1-0 for this year's Peach Games. She plays the game effectively in the interior with a strong willingness to work hard for every bucket she compiles. Tibbs understands that playing in the paint means getting physical – something she is more than willing to do. Rebounding is another element to Tibbs' game which is not indicative of the conventional freshman.
