July of 2025 is preparing to give way to August. The travel portion of the basketball schedule has come to a close – and the academic calendar for 2025-26 will soon commence.

While the fall portion of the school calendar, athletically, has volleyball, track and field and football at its nucleus, there is still plenty of preparation occurring behind the scenes for when basketball takes center stage in November.

On top of this, there is also plenty of activity on the recruiting front as well. Expect many a senior to announce her commitment over the next several months. Without further ado, here is the latest from the Palmetto State's recruiting trail.

We begin this week's recruiting notebook not with additional offers, but with a commitment announcement. One of the premier bigs in South Carolina declared on her social media she would commit to the Seahawks of UNC-Wilmington. She was first offered by the Seahawks last calendar year and has received plenty of interest since from schools such as Presbyterian, Denmark Tech, North Carolina A&T, Elon, Towson, UNC-Greensboro, East Carolina and Gardner-Webb. White originally played junior varsity before working her way up to the varsity level. The [program_tooltip program_id='783909' first='Palmetto' last='76ers/A'ja Wilson Elite'] product averaged 18.2 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per contest last season in 27 games. Her Dorman team is stacked and will be among the 5A Division 1 favorites this season.

The transfer of Alexander from Legion Collegiate to Camden will make Lewis Mungo's Bulldogs among the teams to beat in the 4A realm this season. Her recruitment really picked up following Phoenix 17U Elite's impressive showing in Georgia at War Games and ATL Summer Slam. Albright College, Tennessee State, Lenoir-Rhyne and Barton College all offered Alexander. Another of the Palmetto State's premier patrollers of the paint, Alexander averaged a double-double of 16.8 points and 10.8 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 1.3 blocks per game for the Lancers and similar numbers this season for the Bulldogs will keep Camden firmly in the 4A contenders' chat.

Alexander is far from the only standout opposing teams have to play for when seeing Camden on the other bench. Mungo, who has played at the varsity level since she was a seventh grader, recently announced she was offered by Coppin State. She posted career numbers in 2024-25 as the Bulldogs made the jump from 3A to 4A, averaging 15.1 points, five steals and 4.8 assists playing in all 24 games for Camden. Mungo already has rings on two of her fingers during her time with the Bulldogs and is in search of a third as she commences her junior campaign at Michael G. Culp Court.

If anyone knows about recruiting Palmetto State prospects, it is coach Alaura Sharp at Appalachian State who was previously at the helm at Presbyterian and even got the Blue Hose a March Madness bid – and win – two seasons ago. Rush is one of the premier Division I prospects in South Carolina and was recently offered by Sharp. She recently concluded her AAU career wearing the [program_tooltip program_id='783909' first='Palmetto' last='76ers/A'ja Wilson Elite'] uniform at the Nike Tournament of Champions in Chicago. Rush was part of a First Baptist team that advanced to the SCISA 4A championship game and has taken her talents in her senior season to 5A Division 1 Wando.

One of the first offers of the week was extended in the direction of one of the state's signature 2027 prospects. North Carolina Central and its coach Tim Valentine extended an offer in the direction of Earl. She finished her AAU season with AEBL Girlz and recently announced that she will transfer from 5A Division 2 T.L. Hanna to one of the state's premier 4A powers in Westside. Earl averaged 16 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.2 steals last season for the Yellow Jackets. Expect her new team, the Rams, to once again provide plenty of problems for the 4A field.

Powell played a massive part in 5A Division 1 Clover's 23-3 season in 2024-25 and coach Shakkia Walker's Blue Eagles will be in search of even more success in 2025-26. She was recently offered by Mary Baldwin University in Virginia and its head coach Brad Rideout. We at Prep Girls Hoops observed Powell on several occasions as her [program_tooltip program_id='715412' first='SC' last='Eagles'] UA Rise 17U team was a mainstay on this year's Prep Girls Hoops Circuit. Powell posted career numbers last season for the Blue Eagles, playing in all 26 games and averaging 10.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals per contest.

Speaking of standouts from Clover who are getting collegiate looks, Mcilwain is another one of those. Mcilwain landed an in-state offer from North Greenville University. She finished her final season on the AAU circuit running with Team KB AAU – a Charlotte-based team with names from both Carolinas. She and the team spent the final live period of 2025 at ATL Summer Slam in Georgia and earned Player of the Game honors in one of her team's contests at the LakePoint Sports Complex. A talented two guard for the Blue Eagles, she is a reason why the veteran core at Clover is poised to build on what was a successful 2024-25.

To say that 5A Division 1 River Bluff had a successful offseason is an understatement. Godfrey was one of several transfers from SCISA 4A Northside Christian to the Gators that will surely have River Bluff among 5A Division 1 contenders. Godfrey recently secured her first offer which came courtesy of Newberry College. She played in all 26 games last season with the 23-3 Crusaders and averaged 18.7 points, 5.8 steals, 4.4 assists and 3.9 rebounds per contest. A talented playmaking guard on both ends of the floor, the phrase “was offered by” will likely be uttered in reference to Godfrey on many occasions between now and when she makes her collegiate choice.
