Recognized by Their Role Models: Ferris Elite Camp MVPs

The Ferris Elite Camp brought together some of the top high school talent for a competitive day of learning, growth, and high-level basketball. What made this camp unique was that each team was coached by a current Ferris State player, giving the campers a firsthand experience of college-level insight and leadership. At the end of the day, each Ferris player was asked to name the MVP of their team — the player who stood out most in terms of effort, skill, and attitude. While a few couldn't narrow it down to just one, we ended up with eight standout performers who earned MVP recognition from the very players they hope to follow. Let's take a look at the athletes who caught the eyes of the Bulldogs.    Tatum made a strong impression throughout the entire Ferris Elite Camp with her consistent energy and elite shot-making ability. She dominated the 1-on-1 competition, showcasing her skill, toughness, and competitive edge. All day long, she knocked down shots with confidence, catching the attention of both players and coaches. Tatum was coached by Ferris player Elle, who named her a co-MVP for her standout performance and leadership on the floor.     Elaina had an outstanding showing at the Ferris Elite Camp, standing out for her poise and versatility on the court. A skilled guard, she made an impact both with the ball in her hands and playing off the action, showing a strong feel for the game. Her decision-making, court vision, and ability to create for others were on full display, along with a smooth shooting touch that kept defenders honest. Ferris player Mia, who coached her team, recognized Elaina's all-around game and named her a well-deserved co-MVP.     Kaiya turned heads all day at the Ferris Elite Camp with her leadership, intelligence, and constant communication on the court. As a savvy guard, she played like a true floor general—an extension of the coach with a deep understanding of the game. Her decision-making was consistently sharp, always putting her team in the best position to succeed. Ferris player Kadyn, who coached her team, named her MVP, and by the end of the day, Kaiya had the entire Ferris roster talking about her impressive performance and presence.     Ella made a big impact at the Ferris Elite Camp with her length, nonstop energy, and fearless style of play. A versatile guard, she didn't hesitate to mix it up in the paint with bigger players, holding her own physically while staying aggressive on both ends. She hit shots from deep with confidence and consistently attacked the basket, forcing help and finding open teammates with smart passes. Ferris player Elle, who coached her team, named Ella a co-MVP for her toughness, unselfish play, and ability to make things happen all over the floor.     Melanie delivered a standout performance at the Ferris Elite Camp, earning MVP honors from Ferris player Ally. A sharp, composed point guard, Melanie impressed with her court awareness, crisp passing, and tight handle under pressure. She consistently made smart decisions with the ball, setting the pace for her team and creating scoring opportunities. Her poise showed in a sudden-death 5v5 game, where she delivered the game-winning assist with perfect timing and vision.     Payton made her presence felt on both ends of the court at the Ferris Elite Camp, earning co-MVP recognition from Ferris player Mia. A long, active guard, she disrupted passing lanes and protected the rim with multiple deflections and key blocks throughout the day. On offense, she was locked in, consistently knocking down shots from all over the floor and keeping defenders on their heels. Her two-way impact stood out and played a major role in her team's success.     Izzy had an impressive showing at the Ferris Elite Camp, earning MVP honors from Ferris player Emma. A dynamic point guard with elite handle, she kept defenders off balance and blew by them with ease. Once in the paint, she finished with creativity, using a variety of moves around the rim. Her control, pace, and smart decision-making made her a constant threat and a key playmaker for her team.     McKynley stood out at the Ferris Elite Camp with her leadership, sharp instincts, and all-around guard play, earning MVP honors from Ferris player Claire. With tight ball control and excellent vision, she consistently set up her teammates while keeping the offense flowing. She was confident from beyond the arc, knocking down shots when defenders gave her space. McKynley's presence as a floor leader, combined with her smart decision-making, made her a steady and reliable force throughout the day.
