A raucous crowd filled the gym and they were treated to fast paced, hotly contested first quarter which ended with River Hill up 17-16. A strong surge to start the second quarter is all Howard needed to take control of the game. They took a 33-25 lead into the half and never looked back, winning 66-43. The Howard county title is theirs to lose at this points.
Anii was on another level tonight. Her athleticism has always been off the charts, but she has improved her shooting and ball handling so she has become a real tough cover. Her improved free throw shooting will help Howard down the stretch. She led everybody with 26 points.Anii has signed with Salem University.
Gabrielle Kennerly, Howard, Freshman
It was really good to see “GK” back for Howard. A torn ACL set delayed what was supposed to be a promising season for one of the freshmen in the area. This was her second game back and she continues to make progress. She is nowhere near one hundred percent, but she is showing flashes of her special talent.
Kennedy Clark, River Hill, Senior
Kennedy is a solid floor general that will be able to contribute to a college program next season. She makes good decisions, can shoot the long ball and rarely gets rattled. She led River Hill with 15 points. She is unsigned.
Gabby Scott, Howard, Sophomore
Gabby is a sophomore wing playing out of position but I liked her activity tonight. She played solid defense and was active on the glass while scoring 10 points.
Emily is 2021 lefty point guard with a solid handle and nice range on her jumper. Em is a tough player with a great feel for the game. She will be a solid piece for D2 or D3 program.
