2023 Rankings Update: New Western NC Forwards
The 2023 rankings were updated yesterday. Here are some of the new names that were added from the western part of the state.
Amanda Sacoto Amanda Sacoto 6'1" | C Cuthbertson | 2023 NC | Cuthbertson
Sacoto (pictured above) does a great job clearing out the paint when she is waiting for a rebound. She grabs boards on both ends of the court making sure to extend plays on offense to get some points for herself. She is shifty moving around the lane sliding into gaps in the defense to get the pass for her own bucket. She doesn’t shy away from contact underneath the hoop when battling for some points even getting some old fashioned three point plays.
Kairah Dixon Booker Kairah Dixon Booker 5'10" | SF North Mecklenburg | 2023 State NC | North Mecklenburg
Dixon-Booker can play all over the court sliding inside to show off some post moves or setting herself up around the perimeter to score some three pointers. She seems to be a perfect match for point guards who like to run quick offenses as she knows exactly where to move to make a contribution for her team. Her IQ translates to defense as she does well making sure others can’t score against her.
Janiah Shular Janiah Shular 6'0" | SF 1 of 1 Prep | 2024 NC | Victory Christian
Shular can certainly defend many positions on the court using her height to cause problems and her speed to keep up with quick ball handlers. She reads her opponents well knowing how to slide in front of them to stop them from getting to the hoop. She can score herself on three levels making sure to slide into the openings for the pass or get there herself with her ball handling.
Jamecia Huntley Jamecia Huntley 5'10" | SF West Rowan | 2023 State NC | Salisbury
Huntley is an effective cutter to the hoop no matter if she is looking for the lob pass from her point guard or driving hard to the basket handling the ball on the way. She seems to embrace contact on the way showing that nothing is going to deter her from getting to the hoop. Her speed and length come in handy on defense where she can knock the ball away or grab the steal pushing it the other direction with ease.
