Continue ReadingComing in for her freshman year with the most hype around her name in the class of 2026 is Jenica Lewis Jenica Lewis 5’10” | PG Johnston | 2026 State IA . Lewis is a nationally ranked point guard who has received over 20 D1 offers before she had even played a single high school game for the Johnston Dragons. When speaking about her it’s easy to say that she is a special talent on the floor that you don’t see every day. She is a savvy point guard who can score in bunches to keep her team in the game, no matter the situation. She can handle and dribble through pressure while always seeming to find the open player on her team. She has fantastic range while shooting the basketball and could move over to the shooting guard position if needed for her teams offense to be successful. I wouldn’t recommend this though as it would hinder her capabilities for her and her teammates in game. This season will be a fun and still intriguing one for Lewis, as she is starting for the returning state champs who bring back a lot of players from a year ago, including some other D1 commits. This will force Lewis to really elevate her point guard play since she will not need to score as much on this squad to carry them to success.
Jayla Williams Jayla Williams 5’10” | CG Ankeny | 2026 State IA comes into this Watch-List update as a highly sought out recruit in the class of 2026 in the state and the country. Williams, the Ankeny high school combo forward is a big talent with a high ceiling as she comes into her freshman year. She is equipped with nice length, size, and athleticism all while also being a very skilled player with the ball. She has the ability to post up or move around the perimeter on offense and loves to take the ball coast to coast off of a rebound when given the chance. Her jumper comes with solid form and nice balance when attempting a shot wether it be inside the three point arc or not. Coming into this season she has taken some big time college visits already to some major Power 5 schools that really like her. If she can keep up her guard skill set at her size with the ability to move down into the post on a mismatch, she is going to be wanted by almost every college in the country by the time high school is over but only time will tell.
Sydney Doeschot Sydney Doeschot 5’8″ | PG Kingsley-Pierson | 2026 State IA has started off her freshman year on fire for her high school squad, scoring a game high 37 points in her debut a few weeks ago. It is to no surprise that she has landed high on this Watch-List Update as she come into this season as one of the top point guards in the state throughout any class. Doeschot is a complete guard with a solid overall game. She can handle and distribute as well as score the ball at a good pace. She does a great job of setting the tone of the game on defense as she is not afraid to be physical and make you work for everything as the game progresses. Going forward everyone will have to keep an eye out as I expect her to put up some incredible numbers this season against the competition in her conference. It will become more clear as this season moves forward that she is a point guard with a lot of potential that could really help impact a big college program down the road.
Highlights
Reagan Baldwin Reagan Baldwin 6’0″ | C West Des Moines Valley | 2026 State IA slides into this Watch-List Update as one of my top, if not THEE top center in the state of Iowa in the class of 2026. While already having some big games under her belt to start this season, people have seen early on that she is going to be a problem for her opponents over the next few seasons for Perry high school. Baldwin is a force down low, doing the job of rebounding and the majority of scoring in the paint for her team. She is a solid center who can do a lot of good things when she is on the floor. She has good insight as to when to score VS passing the ball out of the post. She has a fundamental base with great ability to finish through contact near the rim paired along with some great footwork that you can tell she has really been working on coming into this season. Once she figures out how dominate she can be against whoever she is playing, it’s over. Her confidence then will lead her to success as long as she keeps her head down and keeps working hard. With the progress she has shown up to this point, I expect her stock to keep rising as her high school career moves forward.
Brynlie Hadenfeldt is one of the top power forwards in the state in the class of 2026 and for good reason. Hadenfeldt is a diverse yet efficient player when the ball is in her hands. She has the ability to score in a number of different ways while also being an extremely hard worker on the defensive end. To start this season she has been the leading scorer on her Prairie high school team while trying to help them be successful in the long run. She has a very good mid-post game that is based on efficiency. I think something that is really overshadowed about her game is the last part I mentioned, efficiency. Her offensive efficiency is usually off the charts as she makes great choices and can finish through contact or over the top of her defender. As this season goes on I can’t wait to see her really take over and show her team how dominate she can be, making herself a crucial part to their team’s success.
