The world of high school basketball here in Michigan has been exciting to say the least! Let's look at some of the recent news and notes from this season.

Mio suffered their first loss of the season, but freshman superstar [player_tooltip player_id='807279' first='Mia' last='McGregor'] was in prime form. She's one of the most explosive scoring freshman I can recall seeing. McGregor had 46 points in the game.

Don't look now, but Plymouth Christian has won 5 straight. Last night they defeated Inter-City, led by a solid game from Sophia Aren-Olsen. Well rounded games from players like [player_tooltip player_id='853453' first='Soleil' last='Weaver'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1137436' first='Chloe' last='Martin'] have been key to the winning streak

East Kentwood ended defending state champion Rockford's 33 game winning streak last night with a 60-54 victory. This shows any doubters that East Kentwood is a legitimate state title contender. [player_tooltip player_id='853433' first='Harmonie' last='Belton'] and her shooting from behind the arc led the way.

[player_tooltip player_id='417903' first='Aubrey' last='Rogers'], a star guard from Morrice, scored her 1000th point in a win against Beecher. She currently sits at 1014 points. Rogers will certainly be adding to that total as she's been a sparkplug on offense all season.

Grand Ledge's [player_tooltip player_id='417920' first='Alayna' last='Armstrong'] pulled off a feat that may not even have a name. We'll call it a double double-double. She topped the 20 mark in both points and rebounds with 28 and 24. These came in a big win against Waverly.

[player_tooltip player_id='244230' first='Brook' last='Simpson'] scored 22 points and her 1000th point in a 47-31 win against Black River. She now sits at 1002 career points. This has come in just 42 high school games, putting her at an average of 23.8 points per game. Simpson is one of the most talented unsigned prospects in the midwest.

[player_tooltip player_id='281849' first='Gabrielle' last='Reynolds'] lit up the scoreboard with 32 points in a 62-40 West Ottawa win against Hudsonville. It was her 4th 30 point game of the season.

East Grand Rapids got a win against Northview and also saw 2 players notch new career high points in a game. [player_tooltip player_id='735330' first='Sienna' last='Gills'] put up 17 and Avery Leete matched that with 17 as well.

Knockdown shooter [player_tooltip player_id='613004' first='Dalton' last='Deboer'] was in prime form for Midland Dow in a win against Midland. Known as a shooter, she held true to form burying 6 shots from behind the arc on her way to 22 points in the game.

[player_tooltip player_id='365000' first='Madison' last='Morson'] came up with a primetime performance in a primetime game against Howell. Salem won a tough 55-52 matchup between 2 VERY talented teams. Morson led the way with 32 points.

How about an ever elusive triple-double? [player_tooltip player_id='244273' first='Mckenzie' last='Swanson'] notched one of those last night scoring 14 points, grabbing 14 rebounds and blocking 13 shots in the Marian win.
