With the way Leyva closed out her season season, it’s feeling more and more like Wichita State got a steal. It was a full stat line performance in the title game with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Which is a good encapsulation of the complete game the guard brings. She creates opportunities for her teammates with heads up transition passing and is a handful to keep out of the paint on offense. Where she’s a great decision maker. Add in steady three point shooting and there’s a lot to like about her game. Leyva caps her high school career with back to back Gold Balls and this year was named State Tournament MVP.

Leyva set an early tone on defense with blocks and steals. From hounding on the ball and ripping the opposition, a helpside block and swatting an opponent who tried a mid-range pull up on her. When LCS started to pull away in the second half, it was Leyva who put her foot on the gas pedal. Attacked the basket with smooth but fast drives to the rim, either scoring or drawing fouls. Then had one particularly back breaking stretch where she stepped into a pull up three, then ripped the opposing ball handler for a steal and score. It was a complete performance for one of the top guards in the state. And she has Lincoln Christian looking ready to defend their 4A title.

Few players in Oklahoma can move with the ball like Leyva does. She’s smooth and graceful, complete with ball fakes and other moves to keep defenders guessing. Can fit into the role of being a distributor, or go get buckets herself. Is developing a nice clutch resume too. As she was a big part of LCS winning a tooth and nail battle in the 4A State Title game. Then has made big plays with her AAU team this spring. Her efforts has resulted in new offers for the exciting 918 guard, with Wichita State being the most recent.

Levya closed out her junior high school season with a State Title in dramatic fashion. She’s contining the dramatics with a recent quick putback to force OT and an eventual win for MOKAN in Nike Girls EYBL play. She’s one of the quicker and more skilled guards in Oklahoma. And now her recruitment is picking up steam. This month, she has earned offers from Liberty and Nebraska Kearny (D2).

An early coast to coast take seemed to set the tone for a flashy and productive game for Leyva. She’s a skilled and quick lead guard, with eye catching ball fakes and nice no look feeds. Was a thief on defense, finishing with four steals. Scored 14 points, most of it coming at the rim thanks to her quickness and handles. Continuing to come into her own, as a dynamic lead guard for the elite LCS team.

Was a distributor first, who’s ability to handle the ball and make the right reads is crucial to LCS’s offense. Her floor vision are a clear indicator of her background as a coach’s daughter. Has some unpredictability to her movements with the ball in her hands. Leyva was quieter as a scorer, but did look smooth when hitting a stepback 10 footer. And can easily see how she can be dangerous off the dribble as an attacker.

has transferred to 4a Lincoln Christian. Alexis is one player that I have not seen in person nor on the circuit. So I can not tell what I do not know. I did do some research and watched some film and all I can say is what an athletic player. A 5;11 guard that is long and showed a smooth skill set.
I do know she is ranked as the #2 Combo guard and Number #9 overall in the state according to PGH Oklahoma. She does have offers from ORU and Tulsa already. Take a player of that athletic capabilities and add them to roster like Lincoln Christian and folks you have an impact transfer.

Let me say first off I have never had the opportunity to watch Alexis play. I am going off research and game film. A combo guard that can handles the ball with patience, smoothness and just has a calmness about her. Great job at pushing the ball through the gap and reaching the rim on her drives. A very strong understanding of reading second level defense seeing things develop before the happen allowing her to make some very nice assists. A player that I would say enjoys the art of a Great Assist.
Alexis is now at 4a powerhouse Lincoln Christian. She has received offers from D1 schools University of Tulsa and Oral Roberts University. A high level player that I am sure will have more offers coming after this summer circuit.
