About Ashlyn
Expert Analysis
Evan Bell | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Ashlyn had an outstanding weekend for Michigan Storm Elite 16U, and it culminated in an impressive performance in the Diamond Championship Game. Ashlyn was a dynamic and poised ball-handler for her team, coming up big in crunch time. She moved her feet quickly to apply pressure and picked the ball-handler’s pockets on the defensive end. Ashlyn drained a smooth wing three, drove into a jump stop, let the defender fly by, then pivoted to score with her left off the glass. She swiped the ball away for a layup, finished with finesse at the rim, created space with her shifty dribble combinations, and handled the ball confidently against length and pressure. Ashlyn led the way with 13 points and received recognition as Diamond Championship Game MVP.

Ashlyn has had a phenomenal sophomore season for Milford, putting up multiple stat lines of 20 and 30 points. She’s extremely shifty and crafty off the dribble. Ashlyn gets to the paint, finishes with finesse in traffic, and has great touch on her floaters. She’s lethal from beyond the arc, pressures the ball to cause turnovers on the defensive end, and creates open shots for teammates by drawing help defenders. Ashlyn will be a top guard prospect to watch in District 13.

Ashlyn dropped 27 points in the win on Tuesday; her dynamic display of offensive talent was exciting to watch. One of her “wow” moments came when she used a sudden behind-the-back crossover combination to put her defender on the floor, then slammed into high gear for a drive-by layup. Ashlyn swished a soft floater off a crossover dribble at the buzzer to end the third quarter and buried three triples. She made a smart read to refuse a screen, attacked hard downhill, switched hands smoothly to her left, and finished the layup through a foul. Ashlyn caused turnovers with her constant pressure and will be a special prospect to watch in the LVC this season.

Ashlyn was expected to be the Maverick’s top gun this season and she wasted no time etching her name in the Milford record books. Ashlyn set a new school record by hitting 7 three-pointers on 9 attempts against Fenton last Tuesday in a 63-26 victory. She tallied 25 points, 6 assists, 4 steals, and 4 rebounds in what was an exceptional day for one of Michigan’s finest freshman guards.

Ashlyn has been an exciting point guard prospect to watch leading up to the winter season and she will be an immediate game-changer for Milford as a freshman. Ashlyn has multi-level scoring efficiency as a driver and shooter, which demands double teams from opponents. She has led the Mavericks to wins against tough opponents during the summer with her determined performance on both ends of the court. With her explosiveness offensively and defensive determination, I have no doubts that Ashlyn will earn All-Conference First Team honors in 2024.

Ashlyn can take over games with her scoring abilities, but she let her defense do the talking at the Big Cat fall league on Sunday. Ashlyn applied heavy pressure on the opposing team’s point guard, which caused challenges for their offense. She created multiple steals, created separation with her quick combo dribbles, and knocked down smooth free throws for the Mavericks.

Ashlyn made a huge splash with her offensive dominance for Milford at Northwood Team Camp. Ashlyn explodes off the dribble, handles the ball effectively, makes plays on defense, dishes great passes, and shoots lights out from the perimeter. She will be a must-watch prospect this winter in the LVC with the Mavericks.
