Maria had a big AAU season for Michigan Storm Elite , following an outstanding sophomore campaign for Renaissance that helped the Lady Phoenix finish as D1 State Runner-Ups. She separated herself as an elite point guard at the HBCU Showcase. Maria was accurate and confident from three, showed a high IQ as a facilitator, consistently escaped pressure, and demonstrated advanced ball-handling speed, control, and dribble combinations. She’s aggressive, athletic, compact, finishes through contact, creates scoring angles with her skilled footwork, and has a good finishing touch around the basket. Maria makes smart plays with the ball in her hands. She creates wide-open looks for teammates by drawing defenders to her dribble, then makes the extra pass. Maria picked up her first D2 offer from Davenport in July and is a complete two-way point guard to have on your radar this season.

Maria has a look of fierce determination at the HBCU Showcase, and she separated herself as a complete point guard prospect throughout the event. Early on, it was her presence as a slasher, facilitator, and defender that caught my attention. She’s athletic and extremely crafty in the lane. Maria drove downhill, elevated, and switched hands in the air to score a layup. She kept her eyes up and hit a cutter with a crisp bounce pass in stride for an assist. Maria attacked with a burst to split the gap, went up strong, then scored a strong and one finish at the rim. She secured rebounds and immediately pushed the tempo in transition. Maria demonstrated good balance and mechanics while shooting threes in warmups and knocked down a smooth straightaway three in the game. She converted a tough finish off a quick drive and made a smart dump-off pass after drawing the final defender to her dribble during a fast break. Maria saved her best for the Championship Game. She drove to the paint, used counter pivots to create space, then stepped through to score an and-one floater through contact. Maria handled pressure with poise and escaped it at half court using a speedy pocket dribble/crossover combo move, then drove by with a burst to score a contested finish. She applied full-court pressure to create steals and made a smart extra pass dish after forcing the help to commit to her dribble. Maria is a phenomenal court general who does it all on both sides of the ball. She received recognition as my Championship Game MVP.

Maria is a 2028 point guard I would love to see at The Expo because of the high-level two-way impact she brings to the floor. She is an athletic lead guard with a non-stop motor, quickness, and the toughness to compete every possession. Defensively, Maria can be a difference-maker with her lateral quickness, ability to contain drives, and awareness away from the ball. Offensively, she uses a shifty handle and explosive first step to create driving lanes and get downhill, where she has the creativity to finish in traffic and use either hand around the basket. Maria also plays with a high basketball IQ and brings the qualities you want from a point guard on both ends of the floor. She has continued to raise her stock with her play, and I would love to see her bring that energy, defense, and playmaking to The Expo in front of the college coaches in attendance.

Maria is an athletic point guard with a non-stop motor, gritty toughness, and checks the boxes of a highly talented next-level point guard. If there was a defensive MVP award, Maria was the unanimous choice in the 16U Diamond Championship Game. Her lateral quickness, ability to stop drives without using her hands, and off-ball awareness were on full display. Maria consistently created driving lanes with her dribble, attacked downhill with a burst, and finished tough layups in traffic. Maria scored a sweet spin finish in the lane, drove by for a bucket in transition, and attacked, then switched hands to her left on the go for another layup. Earlier in the weekend, she scored a smooth inside hand finish after a shifty crossover and timed up a block perfectly on a basket cut. High IQ two-way lead guard and major stock riser over the weekend.

Maria made her presence felt in the Seminal win against DeWitt at the Breslin Center. Her facilitation, defensive masterclass, and finishing off the dribble separated her in the game. She applied great perimeter pressure and flipped her hips quickly to turn and sprint laterally, keeping ball-handlers under wraps. Maria penetrated off the dribble, switched hands in the lane, and finished with her left at the rim. She swiped the ball away twice to score layups and made a great dump-off assist down low after causing the help to commit to her drive. Maria posted eight points, five steals, and two blocks in the victory.

Maria is a lockdown defender and she’s come through in clutch spots for Detroit Renaissance this season. Maria penetrates gaps off the dribble, finishes with strength at the rim, facilitates, and is a threat from three-point range. She’s quick, scrappy, and determined to make the hustle plays. Maria is an athletic, gritty, and impactful two-way point guard with a lot of upside.

Maria was one of the biggest stock risers at the LBI Mitten Opening, and she looks ready to have a stellar sophomore season for Detroit Renaissance. Maria’s slashing ability, passing precision, and defensive pressure gave teams fits at the scrimmage. She used a quick crossover jab combination, retreated to the perimeter, shifted into high gear, and accelerated through the gap to score a tough layup. Maria drove past defenders to score a floater and applied great pressure on ball-handlers to force turnovers. She scored a breakaway layup, converted a tough reverse layup off two feet, and dove to secure a key loose ball late in the game.
