Evalyn is a guard that has potential to shine this AAU season. Coach Dietz describes her as someone who plays bigger than her size. She is a solid 5’8 but can defend bigger opponents due to her impressive strength. She is an excellent rebounding guard and can grab defensive rebounds and start the fastbreak herself. She uses her strength on the offensive side as well. She is fearless going to the basket and attacking smaller defenders for buckets at the rim. She is a patient player and eager to improve as a basketball player.

Evalyn was one of the bright spots on a Velva team that struggled to find themselves in the win column in 2025-2026. Velva only graduates two seniors, so they have a ton of returners with varsity experience heading into next season. Evalyn does a little bit of everything for the Aggies. She handles the ball, sets screens, attacks the basket, and rebounds well for a guard. She is a good height for a ND guard and is a strong athlete with good jumping ability. She was an All-District selection this season and had a good year. She finished the year averaging 14.7 points, 9.1 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3.2 steals per game.

Selzler is a player I want to watch a lot more this season and am eager to see the improvements she has made. She has the tools to be a very good high school player and guard. She will begin to get some college looks as she progresses throughout high school. She plays with savvy and poise on the floor and is a steady ball-handler. She knows how to dribble out of trouble and avoid turnovers against the full-court press. I like her athletic ability and how she is able to create scoring opportunities for herself off of the bounce.

Evalyn is a promising 2028.  She has a good frame for a young guard and seems to play with above average strength.  She isn’t afraid of playing on the big floor and does a nice job of playing with poise.  She has a good looking shooting form and is a good ball-handler.  Evalyn is someone I am going to keep an eye on going forward.
