Karlyn Kovarna Karlyn Kovarna 5'11" | SF/CG Hinton | 2026 State IA made some major plays last Winter for Hinton High School as they went undefeated, eventually winning the 2A State Title. Kovarna was a mismatch nightmare. She is someone at 5’11, who can play both positions, depending on what is needed from her at that time. She can move and attack off the outside or she can handle the middle and make sure everything stays in check. This Winter she will have some more reinforcements along side of her but that won’t change the fact that Kovarna should be her normal-self. If she builds on what she put in place last Winter, she should continue to see success individually.

Karlyn Kovarna Karlyn Kovarna 5'11" | SF/CG Hinton | 2026 State IA was a crucial piece to her team’s 2A State Championship last winter for the 2024-2025 season. Kovarna, a 5’11 SF/CG, stood out as a versatile producer. She didn’t lead her team in any category necessarily but she was always there to chip in and make meaningful plays down the stretch of big contests. Last Winter Hinton High School went 26-0. They ran the table and they will have another chance of that over these next eight months. They return most if not all starters from a year ago and they get back Creighton Volleyball commit, Bailey Boeve Bailey Boeve 6'0" | PF Hinton | 2026 State IA , from injury. If she comes correct, this group could make another special run for the 2025-2026 seasons.

Hinton brought home the 2A Championship last week when they made a historic run throughout the week. This same Hinton team is going to return next Winter and they are going to be favored to go back-to-back as State Champs because they return everyone, along with adding some vital pieces that they didn’t have this past season due to injury. One of their Senior leaders will be Karlyn Kovarna Karlyn Kovarna 5'11" | SF/CG Hinton | 2026 State IA , who just put together a week to remember. Kovarna chipped in during every contest this past week at the SF/CG position. She rebounded thoroughly near the rim, grabbing almost double digits in rebounds each game. She scored when she had time and space near the bucket, as well as away from the rim and she defended her position to a T. If she can replicate this again next season in whatever role she is given, I’m sure the Blackhawks will continue to see more success. 

Another intriguing prospect for Hinton, that is going to be a big piece to their puzzle in trying to win a State Title these next two years is Karlyn Kovarna Karlyn Kovarna 5'11" | SF/CG Hinton | 2026 State IA . Kovarna is a mismatch nightmare in a sense, she has a thorough ability in the assisting and rebounding departments of the game, and her mixture of active hands/feet help her record multiple steals per game. There is a lot to like about Kovarna and the intangibles that she brings to the floor. In this contest Kovarna led her Blackhawks team with 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Two very important numbers in a winning effort.
