It seems that Rochester Mayo is full of young, talented players right now. Sunday it was McLaughlin’s turn in the spotlight.The 5’7 guard was consistent all day long, bringing a high level of competitiveness to every game she played. On the offensive side of the ball, she showed off her court vision, as well as her ability to get down hill and draw fouls at the rim, often finishing and earning herself an and-one opportunity. Madalynn carried over her aggressiveness and high motor to the defensive end, using her quick hands to disrupt the passing lanes and force turnovers. After averaging 7 points per game with the Spartans last season, we look forward to seeing what McLaughlin puts together in her sophomore campaign.

Another prospect that was competing up a grade-level and starting for her Air Minnesota 2026 team this weekend was Madalynn McLaughlin. I was told prior to watching this team compete this weekend to keep an eye on McLaughlin. That she is someone who could be “up next” and that information was definitely on point from everything I saw the past couple of days. McLaughlin is a smooth and crafty Point Guard, that is very good off the dribble while leading her team in a number of different ways. She stands out the most by the way she moves. She makes things seem effortless when she is dribbling the ball down the floor and she always has her head on a swivel during every point of a contest. One of her other impressive abilities is how well she can finish around the rim. It doesn’t matter what side she is on or what hand she is using, if she has an open look near the hoop, you can pretty much just count the basket because it’s going to be good. McLaughlin is someone out of the 2027 Class from Minnesota and I’m sure she is going to be a prospect we talk about a lot more down the line. What she displayed this weekend was impressive and I can’t wait to see more going into the future.
