+23 – Powell is another player who was overdue for a bump in the rankings. After playing a pivotal role for Rosemount in their 4A state championship run, we were excited to see Maren with North Tartan ‘s 16U EYBL squad in the AAU season. Ultimately, the 5’11 wing was sidelined with an injury for the first half of the summer, so our viewing opportunities were limited. Once she returned, though, the Irish junior proved herself once more as a legitimate Division 2 prospect. Long, athletic, and versatile on both ends of the floor, Maren’s rebounding and reliability as a defender are some of her biggest strengths. After collecting an offer from Minnesota-Crookston last month, Powell is moving up 23 spots, now placing her at #44 in the class of 2028.

Maren has endeared herself to our evaluators over multiple viewings this winter. Every time I watch I am more intrigued by what Powell has to offer. Maren has been a key piece for Rosemount all year, demonstrating maturity beyond her years and a willingness to take on tough assignments against strong opponents. She has good frame size, nice length, solid footwork in the post, and is a natural rebounder. Although she didn’t score much this year, Maren is a versatile contributor with range.
