Weelden is someone that has progressed tremondeouly over her four high school seasons and because of that, she is going to have a shot to play with Loras College out of Dubuque this upcoming Winter season. Van Weelden is a lengthy 2/3 Guard, that can move around because of her long arms and quick first step going either direction. I had a chance to watch Van Weelden compete up close this past AAU season/Senior year and she stood out more times then not. She demonstrated that she can work outside of the lane or near the hoop. she rebounds hard and makes good business decisions, and she is one of the first to get on the floor for a loose ball any opportunity she gets. Loras recently has gotten a new coach this past year and he has really made a difference already within their system. He brings a lot of knowledge to the floor and I’m sure he is going to see the worth of Van Weelden these next four years. I’m not sure if she will see the court right away as a Freshman because of their roster but she definitely is going to be someone to keep an eye out for in the near future.
