Expert Analysis
Sam Duren | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
In a pivotal district win over Deer Creek a few weeks back, the versatile Watkins was EVERYWHERE on the court. She denies and deflects passes on the perimeter, corrals rebounds down low and runs the floor hard in transition. She even can knock down threes. She’s perfect for this urgency list, because she’ll find ways to win games that show up in the box score. And also make an impact beyond the box score.
Watkins is putting a bow on a strong high school career, recently crossing 1,000 career points scored. In a tough Class 6A west playoff field, the Timberwolves will need every ounce of Watkins’ versatility to reach State. Which a win over Edmond Santa Fe has already secured an Area spot. But digging deep and upsetting their school district rivals Norman on Saturday afternoon, would send them to Area in style and only needing one win next week.

Norman North currently sits at 4-4, playing a tough 6A slate early. Olivia has been coming on strong as of late, scoring over 20 in each of the last four games. The Sienna commit plays on the perimeter quite a bit. Great shot off the dribble, going to be able to guard multiple positions at the next level.

Opened the contest with a nice dribble move, then was quieter on offense till big scores in the fourth. She earned trips to line and drilled a dagger three that put North up by 8 with about 3 minutes to play. While quieter offensively, she remains a rock solid defender, on and off the ball. And helps with rebounding as well.

A versatile forward that has nice footwork on the inside and well a 3 point shot. Moves great without the ball cutting backdoor with hands ready to catch and finish. Good handles allows Olivia to play the 3 guard at times. Great understanding of defense rotation to go along with her length makes a rim protector.
Olivia has several offers before the last Live Period. A 6’1 versatile player like Olivia I could see the interest pick up once the circuit ends.

Versatile stretch forward/wing prospect. Reliable three point threat as a catch and shoot option. Moves well when putting the ball on the floor, and crashes the offensive glass. Good offensive game to go with potential to be an impact defender. Recruitment has gained momentum this spring, which is a good follow up to a strong junior season at Norman North.

Watkins has been on my radar for a very long time and speaking of radar, you almost need one to measure how far she was dropping it from BTA. I was equally impressed with how quick her release has gotten so the “catch and shoot” had me going, so did her attacking the basket strongly and finishing after contact. She also scored around the basket, putbacks included and she rebounded on both ends

The second part of the Lady Timberwolves’ dynamic duo, Watkins is a promising stretch forward prospect. She was consistent as a three point threat, hitting multiple times from deep on her way to 15 points. On the defensive end she’s a good rotator who can impact shots at the rim, and even recorded a very impressive snatch block from behind. Defensive upside, good size, and floor stretching ability seems like a great combination.

Watkins caught my eye a few years ago at an Individual Showcase I covered in Oklahoma and her being “long and athletic” immediately grabbed my attention because I knew by her doing things instinctively, she was on her way. She plays the passing lane and handles the ball afterward, she has good timing to block shots, she rebounds on both ends and she defends, in and outside the paint. She also scores off the dribble and even dropped it from outside
