Alex Sawyer | 5’0 G | St. Paul 2020
Alex Sawyer and a few other members of this St. Paul backcourt are scrappy, scrappy, scrappy and they are not ashamed of it. Alex Sawyer at 5’0 has an incredible jump shot and impeccable defense. Her court awareness allows her to penetrate the ball with ease as well as pull up at will in transition. Her shop making ability can change the tempo of the game in a heartbeat. Last year, Alex Sawyer and St. Paul beat #1 Mount de Sales in the IAAM B Championship.
Ashlyn Bender | 5’11 W | Glenelg Country 2021
Ashlyn Bender is one of my favorite players to watch. Her form is perfect and her basketball IQ is even better. Ashlyn has a near perfect jumper and what’s most impressive is the way she spots up and shoots from virtually anywhere on the court. Ashlyn has the ability to shoot WNBA length three-pointers. She powers up on defense and can run down her man without hesitation. Her defensive post game is actually her best asset and is what I am really looking forward to see grow this year.
Claire Neff | 6’2 W | Maryvale Prep 2020
Claire Neff looked like an elite basketball player during her junior year. She currently averages 17.3 ppg and 12.5 rebounds per game. The leader of this Maryvale team, Claire is a matchup problem for opposing teams. She constantly moves around the court and is a true wing. Claire may not find herself in the post too often, and at 6’2 with great speed, the pick and roll destroys defenses every time. It’s hard for coaches to place the right personnel on the court to switch off on a player like Claire, especially when Maryvale is running numerous screens.
