- Tyra Robinson, PikesvilleThe Pikesville Wildcats are believed by some to repeat as State Champions at the end of this year’s season. The reason why this is believable is due to the team’s commitment to every possession; both defensively and offensively. In comes Tyra Robinson – Senior Guard, averaging 10 PPG and 5 RPG. What is just as impressive is that she is also averaging 4 SPG, which emphasizes her tenacity and commitment to being a two way guard. Expect Robinson to remain defensively aggressive throughout the season.
- Bria England, Carver Vo-tech
The Lady Bears are having an incredible season thus far when you compare it to last season. Part of the dramatic shift is effort and commitment to playing with true effort on both sides of the court. This can be noted through Bria England – Sophomore guard averaging 3 SPG thus far this season. Be on the lookout for her performance when defending opposing guards. - Kayla Cabbagestalk, ChesapeakeChesapeake currently stands at 2-1 averaging around 43 PPG as a team. What can be factored into the team’s overall points is creating points from defensive stops. This can accredited to Kayla Cabbagestalk, Junior guard, who currently leads her team in steals; averaging 8 SPG thus far this season. It is clear that Cabbagestalk is committed to stripping the ball at any moment’s notice. It would not be wise to expect this to stop soon.
- Kalise Farrar, Carver Vo-TechPlaying in the backcourt alongside England, Farrar causes a defensive nightmare for other backcourts this season. This is because Farrar is currently averaging 2.5 SPG, which causes opposing guards to essentially pick their poison with Carver’s backcourt this year. Farrar should not be taken lightly in defensive matchups.
