There have been several freshmen that have stepped up this season on their varsity teams. Here are five that have made an impact and should be some of the main players in the 2023 class.
[player_tooltip player_id="142824" first="Jadyn" last="Donovan"] Jadyn Donovan Jadyn Donovan 6'1" | SF Sidwell Friends School | 2023 State #21 Nation MD – 6’0″ – Wing – Sidwell Friends
Jadyn was the the other half of Sidwell’s one-two punch this season. The super athletic wing put up some impresive numbers with multiple plus twenty games. Without a spring evaluation she may have solidified herself as the top freshman in the region.
Simone Lewis Simone Lewis 5'11" | PF Georgetown Visitation | 2023 State MD – 6’0″ – Forward – Georgetown Visitation
Simone was a huge addition to G. Visi averaging nearly a double double for the season against pretty good competition. She was not only one of the most consistent freshmen this season, but she was one of the most consistent players overall. She rebounds well and finishes well around the basket.
Paris Locke Paris Locke 5'11" | SF McDonogh | 2023 State MD – 5’11″ – Forward – McDonogh
Paris has all of the tools in place to be a star. She has already made an impact in her freshman year with solid and sometimes dominant inside play. She is a good rebounder and finisher and as her perimeter game expands can be in the top three players in the region.
Sahnya Jah Sahnya Jah 6'1" | SF Bishop McNamara | 2023 #50 Nation FL – 6’2″ – Wing – Bishop McNamara
[player_tooltip player_id="142823" first="Sahnya" last="Jah"]Usually when a freshman joins the top team in the country, they don’t expect to see much playing time if any. Not only did Sahnya get playing time she was an impact player even getting into the starting line up on a team that featured a McDonald’s All American. She played with and against the best for the entire season and showed that she can create off the bounce and knock down the three.
Makaela Quimby Makaela Quimby 5'9" | SG McDonogh | 2023 State MD – 5’9″ – Wing – McDonogh
Makaela has been flirting with triple-doubles all season. She has vastly improved every facet of her game especially her jump shot. She is a legit all around player that can be plugged in at multiple positions because of her versatility.
