2022 6’0 SF Jalyn Brown Jalyn Brown 6'0" | SF New Hope Academy | 2022 State MD – St. Frances Academy – DC Premier
Jalyn Brown Jalyn Brown 6'0" | SF New Hope Academy | 2022 State MD has improved steadily throughout her high school career and there’s no doubt that she’s going to have an electrifying Senior season in 2022. This past Spring, she supplanted her status as a double-double type frontcourt player with natural scoring ability around the basket. Jalyn also passes the ball incredibly well, and she uses her size to facilitate the basketball in unique yet efficient ways. Combined with the Dorsey sisters in the St. Frances backcourt, it’s safe to say that Jalyn Brown Jalyn Brown 6'0" | SF New Hope Academy | 2022 State MD and the Panthers are primed to make a run at GEICO Nationals this upcoming season.
2022 5’2 PG Regina Walton Regina Walton 5'2" | PG Elizabeth Seton | 2022 State MD – Elizabeth Seton – Elevate Elite
Regina Walton Regina Walton 5'2" | PG Elizabeth Seton | 2022 State MD is arguably the best shooting point guard in the state. She shoots absolutely lights out from beyond the arc, and her skills handling and facilitating the basketball are equally as impressive. While her program, Elizabeth Seton, was more inactive than most during the Spring, Regina still made her presence felt with her electric playmaking ability. The Roadrunners will look to resurge into dominance this upcoming season, and, with Regina Walton Regina Walton 5'2" | PG Elizabeth Seton | 2022 State MD leading the backcourt, there’s no stopping them.
2023 5’5 G Nia Grimes – Bishop O’Connell – Fairfax Stars
If you’re looking for a floor leader who seamlessly controls the backcourt then look no further than Nia Grimes. As the heartbeat of the Bishop O’Connell Knights, Nia not only facilitates efficiently, but she also scores effectively and possesses incredible range with her three point jump shot. Defensively, Nia is a spectacular on-ball defender with speed who also gets a lot of steals. Bishop O’Connell’s Spring season was non-existent, therefore, expect Nia Grimes and the Knights to have a breakout upcoming season.
2023 5’7 PG Cassidy Mahaney Cassidy Mahaney 5'8" | SG Urbana | 2023 State MD – Holy Cross
Cassidy Mahaney Cassidy Mahaney 5'8" | SG Urbana | 2023 State MD is an absolute sharpshooter, especially from behind the arc, and she is right up there with Regina Walton Regina Walton 5'2" | PG Elizabeth Seton | 2022 State MD for the best shooting point guard in the state. She sank three three-pointers against Good Counsel alone last year, and there’s simply no limit to her range. Cassady is especially dangerous in transition where she uses her basketball IQ to effectively run the floor and find open spots. The Academy of the Holy Cross is set to have a big year on the court and Cassidy Mahaney Cassidy Mahaney 5'8" | SG Urbana | 2023 State MD will be a fundamental part of the program’s success.
