Marcayla Johnson Marcayla Johnson 6'0" | CG Booker T. Washington | 2025 State OK -6’0 CG (Banshees Sadler)
Johnson left a lasting impression because she can simply take over a game in the blink of an eye. She was one of the most explosive players off the dribble the whole weekend, all classes included and she showed she could drop the jumper, mid to long-range, as well as attack and finish after contact but her body control was very good, it enabled her to finish acrobatically yet she also sees the floor, going full speed and makes passes on the money. The icing on the cake for me was”she plays the passing lane” which meant baskets going the other way
Janiyah Williams Janiyah Williams 5'9" | PG Edmond Memorial | 2025 State OK -5’9 CG (Banshees Sadler)
Williams has one of the best first steps in her class, it’s deceptive and it gets the defender to lean and after that, it’s over, and watching her glad through the air, sometimes defying gravity has been a treat for me numerous times yet she appears to have added muscle, which enables her to finish even stronger after contact. Another huge asset is she understands how to create her shot, under pressure and she can drop it from, well anywhere with a hand in her face
Sania Richardson Sania Richardson 5'5" | PG Grind Prep | 2025 State OK -5’3 PG (BTR 16U UAA)
Richardson is fast, athletic, and heady yet she also can handle the ball under pressure and understands how to control the tempo yet seeing her push the ball in transition and throwing passes on the money from anywhere has always been nice but so has her being able to run the set yet she can also set it off by setting the defender up with either hand to attack the basket to finish, and or dish, with either hand, that ain’t easy and she can stretch the defense with her shooting
McKenzie Mathurin McKenzie Mathurin 5'10" | CG Broken Arrow | 2025 State OK -5’9 CG (Oklahoma Swift-Mathurin) Broken Arrow HS
Mathurin had that #BCSLock dropped on her during the Prep Hoops tour and I can go on and on about things I’ve already said as she plays within herself, she understands how to score in the flow, she creates her shot under pressure and she can drop it while being defended tightly mid to long-range, oh yeah, and she takes defenders with ease to score and finish after the lick yet one play just did it for me as she created her shot on the wing and in one motion, got the defender off balance and dropped the step back, from around 20 feet, that’s a college move
Avery Hjelmstad Avery Hjelmstad 6'1" | SG Edmond Memorial | 2025 State OK -5’11 SG (Unity Basketball-Hawkins) Edmond Central HS
Hjelmstad caught my eye over the club season with her shooting and remember, college coaches, love big guards that can shoot, she can definitely drop it with a hand in her face from deep but she showed more midrange this time around, the pull-up is smooth, the shot is fluid and consistent so that gives her options, especially since she attacked the basket to finish as well but she also wants the ball down the stretch, another intangible and she delivers
