The one-day event was an opportunity for girls hoopers from several states – including both Carolinas to showcase their skills in front of coaches and scouts with the regular season around the corner.
We at Prep Girls Hoops also made the trip to Concord for this past Saturday’s festivities. Here is a look at a few from the classes of 2023 and 2024 that caught our attention this past weekend.
Tatum Bowen Tatum Bowen 5'9" | SF 1 Of 1 Prep Academy | 2023 State NC – 2023 – Chestnut Park Academy – Between Bowen and a pair of 2025s in Ranon Suttle Ranon Suttle 5'9" | SF Union Academy | 2025 State NC and Jodi King Jodi King 5'10" | PF 1 Of 1 Prep | 2025 State NC , the Chestnut Park Raptors were well-represented at Concord’s Carolina Courts this past weekend. She previously played at Weddington and displayed her prowess as both a scorer and a rebounder. A centerpiece of Bowen’s game is her ability to drain shots from long range. Bowen will also make plays near the rim and is not afraid to draw contact to put her at the free throw line. Her agility allows her to get in position near the rim to possibly haul in offensive rebounds then get in position to either pass or try a 3-point shot.
Aleysha Hill Aleysha Hill 5'0" | PG Asheville | 2023 State NC – 2023 – Asheville HS – Hill from Asheville knows how to fill up a scoresheet for real. She is one who puts a great deal of emphasis on dribbling, ball handling and driving to the rim. Hill possesses a 3-point shot in addition to a talent for getting out in transition for fast break points. On the defensive side, she is a constant threat to steal the ball and create additional scoring opportunities for her team. Hill was a primary reason for the Cougars’ stellar 12-3 mark from the previous season and will definitely be a focal point for Asheville this season upcoming.
Raven LeXander Raven LeXander 6'0" | SF Myers Park | 2024 State NC – 2024 – Concord Academy – Lexander is a name that may be familiar to girls basketball aficionados in both Carolinas. Carolina Top 100 was essentially a home event for Lexander as she plays for nearby Concord Academy while also working the travel circuit for SC76ers. Lexander has a knack for being able to sink shots from anywhere on the floor – whether in the long range or mid range game. Lexander is versatile as she will also convert on high percentage tries near the basket. She will get a team steals, can get out in transition and is not afraid to absorb contact en route to the free throw line.
Molly Burns Molly Burns 5'7" | CG Ardrey Kell | 2024 State NC – 2024 – Ardrey Kell HS – There is a reason why Prep Girls Hoops added Burns to the 2024 watchlist earlier this offseason/travel season. The Knights are extremely pleased to have this floor general on its team. Burns runs said floor well, possessing a great deal of speed with the ball in her hands. That is something that can throw defenses off guard as Burns is a threat to shoot and make a 3, dish the rock out to a teammate or drive to the cup. Prior to wearing Ardrey Kell purple, she played up the road in Cabarrus County at Jay M. Robinson Middle School.
