Iowa Playoff Top Performers 4A: Week 2
In this article:
4A action this year in regional play was pretty exciting to watch. Many teams pulled some big upsets and look to keep the magic alive at Wells Fargo. Top seed Grinnell, Indianola, and North Polk did not survive in their regions. 4A is loaded with some young talented players who look to make a big difference for their squads.
Libby Fandel Libby Fandel 5'11" | SF Cedar Rapids Xavier | 2025 State IA – Freshman – Xavier – Great all-around freshman that plays with toughness. If she keeps her turnovers down per game Xavier has a good chance. Too quick and long for most guards. She can stretch it out and hit the three-ball well defended. If you close out too much she has a strong drive game and can finish well at the hoop.
Lauren Walker Lauren Walker 5'9" | PG Central DeWitt | 2025 State IA – Freshman – Central DeWitt – The freshman who averages 9 a game this season needs to play big and get to the hoop for her team to stay alive in 4A. Long swing guard who can rebound well and defend smart. Great court awareness and control for a freshman.
Jenna Twedt Jenna Twedt 5'8" | SG Benton | 2023 State IA – Junior – Benton – Handled Grinnell’s pressure very effectively and lead her team to an upset to sneak out of regionals. Very smooth guard with great ball control the whole game. Put’s her players in the right spots and can handle pressure well. Isn’t afraid to score when she is needed.
Chesney Steenhoek – Bondurant-Farrar – Sophomore – Tall and long effective power forward type player. Attacks the glass and rebounds well and is growing in her post-up game. Effective rim protector and moves well off the ball and gives great effort the whole game. If she can play well there blue jays look like a tough squad to match up against.
Katelyn Eggena – Waverly-Shell Rock – Sophomore – Great post-game for a young player. Always helping, Extremely smart shot-blocker who uses her length well. Will be the spark that rock needs to make a championship a reality.
Emma Miner Emma Miner 5'10" | SF Dallas Center-Grimes | 2023 State IA – Dallas Center-Grimes – Junior – The long and silky hybrid forward looks to lead the way and get buckets for the mustangs. Very impressive Junior campaign and already committed. She will have to play strong against the other bigs of 4A to win it all.
Jenna Hopp Jenna Hopp 5'11" | SG Glenwood | 2023 State IA – Glenwood – Junior – The control and moves this girl has are pretty amazing. As a freshman, she was crossing people over and doing two steps for the finish. Her all-around game is polished and gives her team a great chance to go deep. Catch and shoot game is fire. So she is super hard to defend. Can finish very well for a smaller guard.
