Several players have either vastly improved or flew under the radar have made a splash in the updated 2022 rankings. Here are some of the notables that have been added. See the complete list on the 2022 rankings update.
#19 Maya Carnes Maya Carnes 5'6" | PG Friends Of Baltimore | 2022 State MD – Point Guard – Friends School of Baltimore
If you aren’t a die hard fan or a Quaker parent, you probably have never seen the Friends School of Baltimore play. If not you’ve missed a treat with Maya Carnes Maya Carnes 5'6" | PG Friends Of Baltimore | 2022 State MD . Being in a non basketball conference may make her number not turn heads but, seeing her skill level live it is obvious that she can play at any level. She will be a steal for a coach to grab late to run their program.
#97 Sydnee Hill Sydnee Hill 5'1" | PG Takoma Academy | 2022 State MD – Point Guard – Takoma Academy
Sydnee is on the small side but has the talent there. She is really smart and makes good decisions, she has a good shot and plays tough on defense. She just cracks the top 100 and could maybe go higher if she play with and against higher level players. At first take coaches will see 5’1″ but, the game is shifting as well with smaller points running high level programs.
#34 Heather Middleton Heather Middleton 5'11" | SF Arundel | 2022 State MD – Wing – Arundel
Heather has a smooth game and a nice looking shot. When it’s on she can take over a game. At 5’11” she has the size to play every position and I have seen her at each one and has been effective on both ends. Arundel was one a household name in girls basketball, today if you don’t make it a point get out there you will miss her division one level talent.
#20 Carine Pickney Carine Pickney 5'5" | PG St. Mary's Ryken | 2022 State MD – Point Guard – St. Mary’s Ryken
Carine has either been overlooked for years or worked her but off to be one of the area’s top point guards. She plays fast but in control and has been a standout in every Ryken game we saw this season. College coaches are always looking for a solid point guard with big game experience and her time in the WCAC should have them looking her way.
#29 Farrah Peterein Farrah Peterein 5'10" | SF Archbishop Spalding | 2022 State MD – Wing – Archbishop Spalding
Farrah can light it up from three and get to the basket. She has a good mid-range shot. Her game is much like Middleton’s (Arundel) but, she is about an inch shorter and looks to be more active and slightly quicker. She had an impressive run at the She Got Game Classic that got her noticed. She should have a solid career in college.
