Standout players during bracket play of the FFS Summer Spectacular held at multiple Virginia hich schools. Elevate Elevate Elite and PV Thunder met in a semi-final match and with EE coming out on top. The game wasn’t without excitement and here are some of the top players of day two.
Mia Johnson – 5’10″ – Wing – Elevate Elite 17U – 2023
Mia Johnson was the best player on the floor and one of the top players of the Summer Spectacular. She has a nice body and good IQ able to spot cutting teammates and deliver perfect passes. She was able to knock down the three and had a soft midrange pull-up jumper.
Caroline Shrimp – 6’0″ – Forward – Potomac Valley Thunder – 2023
Shrimp was an inside force for PV Thunder. She did all the grunt work inside hitting the boards banging her body and getting to the line. Her drop step move inside was a thing of beauty. She notched a 12 point double-double in the loss to Elevate Elite.
Samantha Smith – 5’6″ – Point Guard – Elevate Elite 17U – 2023
Smith was tenacious on defense and was ready to dive on the floor after loose balls. She ran the floor hard in transition and finished every play at the basket. She has good body control in the air when being contested.
Casidy Mahaney – 5’6″ – Point Guard – Elevate Elite 17U – 2023
As the game went on Casidy became more effective with a big second half. She got to the line repeatedly when attacking the basket and showed good form on her shot.
Shushan Krikorian – 5’8″ – Point Guard – Potomac Valley Thunder – 2023
Shushan has good size at the point and handled ball pressure really well. She knocked down a couple of a nice looking corner three’s and makes good passes of the dribble.
Jessica Dornak Jessica Dornak 6'1" | PF South Lakes | 2023 State VA – 6’1″ – Forward – Potomac Valley Thunder – 2023
Jessica has really good hands and was able to secure some bad passes that should have been turnovers. She has a good body to work inside and a nice form on her shot to stretch the defense. She got to the line and made free throws.
Janie Smith – 6’1″ – Post – Elevate Elite 17U – 2023
Jamie is more built for the wing but did her work inside. She was good with the rebound putback capitalizing off her teammates misses. She plays well with her back to the basket.
