Over 100 players descended on MidAmerica SportsCenter Saturday to compete in the annual Prep Girls Hoops Kentucky Top 250 Showcase. Games were competitive all day and several players burst on the scene for the first time. Here’s a look at the camp MVP as well as the First Team selections.
MVP:
Trinity has been amongst the top players in 2024 since the first time we ever saw the class and she proved again on Saturday why she has double figure D1 offers. Rowe had the best ball handling and passing of anyone at camp in my opinion and helped lead her team to a win over a much bigger and more athletic team in their second game of the day.
First Team:
Look for Simpson to go from unranked to very highly ranked in our next update. She was a rebounding machine with a big time skill set on offense. The only aspect of the game that we didn’t see was a consistent jumper from range. As that improves, the sky is the limit.
Meade was basically unguardable on Saturday when she got the ball. Jhaven is a capable scorer with her back to the basket and cleaned up on the glass all afternoon. Look for some schools to take a chance on her potential soon.
Kennedy caught a lot of eyes in the gym on Saturday with her versatility and playmaking. She was likely the best freshman performer in the camp and looks like an impact player for Apollo this season.
Natalie was named a top performer for two of her three games on Saturday and earned every bit of it. Gentry has shown she can score with the best of them but her playmaking has been undervalued up until now.
Highlights
Ma’Kiya has been one of the biggest stock risers in the 2023 class over the last year or two and showed flashes of even more potential on Saturday. West is even more impressive when she’s being aggressive.
Highlights
Paityn is a a pure scorer who can pour in buckets with the best of them in the 24 class. Isom is highly skilled and aggressive with the ball in her hands. She’s got a chance to be one of the best players in the 5th region the next two years.
