Carter-Swanagan uses her strengths so well. Quick, shifty, and fearless are 3 words I would use to describe her game. She had great handles and court vision. And you better not let her size fool you – she may be small, but her overall game is big. Carter-Swanagan was weaving through traffic, making good passes, and she showed how she can get into the paint or to the rim.
Highlights
Mastin is a shifty guard. She can score in a variety of ways, including on drives, floaters, and jump shots. She did a great job finding the gaps and attacking those areas of the floor. Mastin made some good passes as well. She plays solid defense and she has the ability to get steals on the ball or in the passing lanes.
Reitzel continues to show why she is one of the top players in the 2026 class. She is always so solid and she just comes ready to compete. Her jump shot is strong and she can get it off quickly. She can handle the ball well and she plays good defense. Reitzel plays extremely hard and has good all-around skills.
Highlights
Sapp was doing a little bit of everything when she was on the floor. Her skillset is solid for a young guard. She has good ball handling skills and she threw some impressive passes (that ended up being assists). Sapp has good form on her shot and she can knock down shots from inside and outside the perimeter. She ran the floor well and she was finishing in transition.
Highlights
Hall would win the ‘Most Heart’ award if there was one. She was laying it all out there when she was in the game. It legitimately felt like she was everywhere on both ends of the floor. She has a really good shot and she has so many moves in her arsenal. Drives, 3’s, jump shots, and post moves were all ways she was able to score on Saturday.
Highlights
Green has great size and she showed a ton of versatility on Saturday. I saw moments where she was both playing and defending multiple positions. Green can bring the ball up the floor and handle any pressure that comes with that, but she can also be effective off of the ball. She made solid drives to the basket and she knocked down shots from further out. Green made good fakes and threw some solid passes as well.
Highlights
Simpson showed point guard and shooting guard skills on Saturday. Her handles and decision making were strong, but so was her shooting. When she catches the ball, she doesn’t just react. She reads the defense and sees what’s there before she makes her move or takes the shot.
Simpson is a really solid player. I instantly noted how hard she was playing when I was watching her team play. She really was doing all of the things that require effort, which is typically the things coaches have to beg their players to do, but even without a permanent coach on the sideline, Simpson was putting in the work.
Highlights
Young was playing with the poise of an upperclassman. She is strong and has good size. She also plays really hard 100% of the time she’s on the floor. Her rebounding was really impressive, but what I liked the most about her game was how she stayed with plays and didn’t give up.
Steffen has a solid skillset. She can handle the ball, she has a variety of moves to turn to, and she can score at the rim or further out. She is strong and has a good shot.
Class of 2027
Unfortunately, we don’t have the class of 2027 set up yet, so Benningfield stills shows up as a 2026, but I want to be sure to point out that she is actually in the class of 2027. That being said, Benningfield was one of the youngest players at the expo on Saturday, but you wouldn’t know that if you were just looking at her skills on the court. She looked so confident with the ball in her hands and her handles were strong all-around. She’s got a lot of quickness and a high basketball IQ.
