Continue ReadingJenica Lewis Jenica Lewis 5’10” | PG Johnston | 2026 State IA has been a great example and leader for the Johnston Dragons at the point guard position on their way to starting this season undefeated. Lewis is a good ball handler that can do it all on both sides of the floor. She likes to spot up for three once her offense pushes the ball toward the middle of the floor and has the ability to shoot it from 5-7 feet behind the arc. Having the job to lead an all-star roster with the Dragons, it’s not always easy to come in and find your role but that hasn’t been a problem with Lewis. This past week she received an offer from the U of West Virginia, showing just how well she has been doing up until this point this year. Going forward I look to see Lewis and this team in Des Moines playing for a state title at the end of this season. I’m excited to see what she will do on the states biggest stage.
Addie Naughton Addie Naughton 5’7″ | SG Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln | 2026 State IA falls into this mix of top freshman because of her quick hands and the superior instincts that she has shown around the ball thus far this season. Naughton, a guard who is shooting 50% from behind the three point line, has been a ball hawk for the Lynx by grabbing 43 steals and dishing out 45 assists in their first 12 games. Both of these numbers rank her in the top 5 from freshman in the state in both categories. This is a program and team that is led by some senior leadership and it’s been the main reason for their success this season. With that being said, I think moving forward that Naughton is going to be a major part in the program and how they function toward the end of the season, going into the playoffs. She has had some good production so by making efficient, conservative choices on the offensive end and playing great defense. I hope to see both of these things grow into the future as she gets some more varsity experience.
Highlights
Bailey Boeve Bailey Boeve 6’0″ | PF Hinton | 2026 State IA is ranked in the top 5 in points, rebounds, and steals while averaging 16.5 PPG and 10.8 RPG, pretty impressive huh? Boeve and the Hinton Blackhawks have started their 22′-23′ campaign an impressive 9-2 overall and 3-1 in conference. A big reason for the success is the teamwork and chemistry that this program presents. They do a great job of moving, screening, and making it easy on each other. This creates less work for each player while giving the team more opportunities in the long run of games. Boeve possesses the athleticism and smarts to be a big time sports name as the years go on, it’ll just be a matter of time and which specific sport she decides to stick with as she gets older.
Macy Comito is passing out the rock this year like it is no ones business thus far for the Carlisle Wildcats. Comito, a point guard who just makes it happen, is averaging almost 5 assists per game while also scoring 12 PPG and 5.8 rebounds. I would describe her game style in a few ways. Most importantly it’s selfless and you can tell that just from her APG numbers alone. It’s efficient and versatile. She may not be the biggest but she is good in size and can do a plethora of jobs for your team on both ends of the floor. From a coaching perspective she should get a lot of attention as the rest of this season progresses leading into AAU play. She can really lead a team and be the voice on the floor that a head coach would want and ultimately seek out to be the head of their college program.
Izzy Eisbach Izzy Eisbach 5’9″ | SG Nodaway Valley | 2026 State IA and the Nodaway Valley Wolverines are 10-4 overall this season while still being undefeated in conference at 7-0. Some of the reason they are doing so well is because of their junior leader in Lindsay Davis, who is averaging one of the highest scoring amounts per game in the state this season so far at 25.9. The other reason is the underclassman who have stepped up in big ways. The biggest contributor being Eisbach. Eisbach is a knock down shooter with good length. She doesn’t settle and always has her head on a swivel. She passes well and creates for others as she is her teams assist leader throughout their first 14 games, showing that she has a diverse game of more than she being a scoring threat on the offensive side of the ball. Under pressure she has a good handle and can dribble out of pressure situations. This team will have a good shot once the playoffs start to make a big run. If they keep their composure and their freshman continue to shine, they will be in Des Moines playin for it all before you know it at the end of this season.
