Continue ReadingMorgan Mann Morgan Mann 5’7″ | SG Humboldt | 2025 State IA has been nothing short of a star this year for Humboldt high school. Mann is currently averaging just over 19 PPG, 5.4 RPG, and 3.8 APG while leading her team to an overall 8-5 record. As of recent she has been dominate in every facet of the last few games that she has competed in, scoring over 30 PPG in her last two contests. She is a good sized guard with quick feet and a fundamental-type of game. She has a good act for the ball and shows it purely in her steals/assist numbers alone this season. Going forward throughout the rest of this winter and over the next two years I could see Mann putting up these sort of numbers consistently, which will have her moving up in her class rankings. Currently prior to this she wasn’t ranked in the 2025 class but that will be changing at the next update in March as she is clearly one of the best scorers and overall players in this class thus far throughout her high school career.

Makenna Clark Makenna Clark 5’7″ | PG Ankeny Centennial | 2023 State IA had herself a night on Tuesday evening with a big game in a victory against #4 Valley high school. Clark scored 12 points total on 5/11 shooting from the field and also recorded an assist or two on the way to the win. Describing the type of game she has would be best summed up by her hard-work and dedication to her craft. She is always the first on the floor for a loose ball, cheering her teammates on, or trying to contribute to the team aspect in some sort of way. With that being said she is a very solid player in her own right and she has had some games this year that have shown that off. I would say in general Clark hasn’t been covered as much as she should be up until this point and I expect that to change moving forward. A big part of the reason for this is just how many great individual players there are in this Centennial program. They have some of the top star power throughout all the high school grades/teams in Iowa and they show it off each night. You really never know what you are going to get other then the main contributors of this program in Jaeden Pratt Jaeden Pratt 5’10” | CG Ankeny Centennial | 2025 State IA , Kennedy White, and Mya Crawford Mya Crawford 5’7″ | SG Ankeny Centennial | 2025 State IA doing their thing while others step up to be vital pieces in their hunt for a state championship.
Taylor Brunson Taylor Brunson 5’6″ | SG Linn-Mar | 2023 State IA and the Linn-Mar Lions fell just short VS Iowa City-Liberty last night, 63-75. Brunson, who hasn’t been the most consistent offensive player this year, had a nice outing scoring 15 points on 5/12 shooting including 3/4 from behind the three point arc and 2/4 from the free throw line. Other then just the nice offensive stat line she also recorded 7 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 blocks, and 5 assists, showing just how versatile her game can be in the overall view of things. In regards to her game-style I would venture to say that she is one of those players that is the definition of WE over ME. She is consistently active on the glass by doing a good job of seeing where the rebound will fall and going to get it over anyone, she doesn’t panic or let any opponent speed up her game, and she is a great teammate. This Lions team has a lot of good players and potential. I anticipate them going forward to be a tough team to anyone who will cross their path.
Aubrey Kelly
Aubrey Kelly
In one of the many ranked games taking place last night the (#4) Benton Wildcats ended out on top VS (#7) Center Point-Urbana high school, 46-38. There isn’t much to say about this game but to highlight two of the players, that were a curial part in the victory for Benton. Jenn Twedt went off, per usual, for 23 points on 50% shooting but to follow behind her was an unlike face that we haven’t really touched so far this season. That player being freshman Aubrey Kelly. Kelly is a 5’10 forward who scored 9 points on an efficient 4/6 shooting from the field in the win. When referring to this Wildcats team we don’t really touch on the surrounding cast of Twedt as much as we should. They have some solid athletes and really smart ball players that make it all happen for them night in and night out, Kelly being one of them. Looking forward I will be watching out for Kelly, Twedt, and the rest of this team to make it to state and to continue competing at the high level that they have been all season up to this point.
