The 2027 Palmetto State class will be freshmen next fall in the classroom. Prep Girls Hoops won’t launch its first set of rankings for the 2027 Palmetto State until March 2024. We always give the kids their freshman season to play. Who were some ladies that stood out today in play from the Palmetto State?
Moore Makes the Engine Go:
Gabby Moore Gabby Moore 5'4" | PG First Baptist | 2027 State SC saw good minutes this past season at the varsity level for First Baptist in Charleston. She plays the game with so much grit and competitive edge for her young age. Moore really sets the tone while on the floor for the Charleston Raptors. Gabby has no problems finding the open teammate while touching the paint or taking a tough shot when needed. She plays the game with a good deal of confidence for her young age.
Bright Futures in Moncks Corner:
Imani Levey Imani Levey 5'10" | C Berkeley | 2027 State SC and Amani McCray Amani McCray 5'7" | SF Berkeley | 2027 State SC look to be the future for the Berkeley HS Lady Stags basketball program. Both players played a full season on the Class 5A roster for the Lady Stags.
Levey really came to play today down here at the LBI Spring Invitational. Imani really moves well from block to block and side with side with her footwork. She used a nice drop-step move to finish inside the paint. Levey will play with her back to the basket while really showing a nice set of hands. Imani had no problems battling inside and playing the game on contact.
McCray brings good versatility to the floor. She can play anywhere on the perimeter. Amani likes to handle the rock up the floor at times in transition. She’s very agile and athletic on the floor. Amani averaged 7.5 ppg and 6.3 rebounds this past season for the Lady Stags as a 8th grader.
Levey and McCray both attend Berkeley Middle School.
Lady Upward Stars 3SSB 2026 Duo:
This duo plays up an age group for the 2026 squad. Jade Hailstock Jade Hailstock 5'3" | PG JL Mann | 2027 State SC and Jazaria Jones Jazaria Jones 5'4" | CG Mauldin | 2027 State SC both play in the backcourt together. Despite losing two games at the wire yesterday both by 1-point in each game these ladies really stood out with their play.
Hailstock was quite quick end to end and getting the ball into the paint. She was able to finish some pull-up jumpers in transition today. JADE NEVER TURNS HER OFF HER MOTOR – RELENTLESS MINDSET.
She was constantly jumping on the deck for loose balls. Jade finished drive to the basket while receiving contact. She’s very effective coming around the corner after using a screen to create separation at times. Jade attends Legacy Early College in Greenville.
Jones won a Class 5A State Championship this past season at Mauldin HS. Jazaria was able to connect today a few three pointers when she was changing directions on defenders on the way to the bucket. She really likes to play the game in CHAOS mode at times. Jazaria was superb with the bounce pass today to her teammates.
You Can’t Teach Size:
Zaria Thompson Zaria Thompson 6'3" | C Cardinal Newman | 2027 State SC always has good size down in the paint for SC Future 2026. Thompson an 8th grader at Cardinal Newman stands at 6’3 already. Zaria will get better in time and by playing more and more in the years to come. She has no problems playing the game on contact and being physical. Zaria will carve out space down low with her back to the cup.
The Lady Cardinals have a good center piece to work with moving down the road.
SHOOTER, SHOOTER, SHOOTER:
Kaelyn Poindexter Kaelyn Poindexter 5'6" | SG Clover | 2027 State SC did just that yesterday from downtown. Kaelyn has a quick shot release from behind the 3-point line and an accurate one. Poindexter is running with Team United 2026 on the Grassroots Circuit. She attends Oakridge M.S and played this past season at Clover HS. She did a nice job of showing good shot selection and didn’t look to force her shot all day long.
Future Lady Gator Performing Well:
Jalaiya Jacobs Jalaiya Jacobs 5'5" | CG Goose Creek | 2027 State SC will be part of the future plans at Goose Creek HS for Head Coach Jabari Deas. Jacobs currently attends Sedgefield M.S. Jacobs helped the Palmetto Stampede go (3-0) this weekend at the LBI Spring Invitational. Jaliaya a point guard was able to race by defenders while showing some shake and bake along the way.
The 2027 Palmetto State will look to be an exciting class moving forward. Every day the database grows for this class and currently right now holds 58 players.
