In my excitement to see the next up and coming talent, I looked back on some of my notes from previous events. Check out these great athletes in the class of 2026 that we have seen at some of their events before.
Mackenzie Ortscheid Mackenzie Ortscheid 5’11” | SF Northwest Cabarrus | 2026 State NC is a very versatile athlete being able to play on multiple levels. She can get inside posting up using power dribbles to score some points, and she can get open around the perimeter to score three from beyond the arc. She is consistently vocal on the court communicating to her teammates about where she can help on defense, and she sees the floor well finding her open teammates even up the court with a long pass.
Jaiden Thompson Jaiden Thompson 5’10” | SG Union Academy | 2026 State NC was valuable for Union Academy last year being excellent at playing both ends of the court. She jumps into passing lanes pushing the steals up the court, and she attacks the basket in offensive sets sneaking behind the defense with backdoor cuts always being ready to put up her shot. She sees the floor well knowing where to make her cuts and find the open teammate flashing to the basket.
Hannah Moss Hannah Moss 5’7″ | PG Independence | 2026 State NC is an excellent ball handler earning a starting spot as a freshman with a strong Independence team. Her ability to attack the basket is well beyond her years knowing exactly when to time her cuts and how to make adjustments at the rim. She can put up floaters in the paint, or she can bank it off the glass as she gets to the hoop. She has a nice shot from around the perimeter as well, and she plays on both ends using her ability to strip the ball to turn into fast break points.
Jaida McClure Jaida McClure 5’9″ | PG Providence Day | 2026 State NC has been showing off her range all over the court for years now, and she is certainly going to continue that throughout her high school career. She is already a leader for her Providence Day group being able to show off her stroke from anywhere off the pass or dribble, and she creates plays for her teammates pushing the tempo and finding them as they fill the lanes on fast breaks. She gets inside, too, to go after rebounds extending plays on the offensive side of the ball.
