Makayla Schlorf Makayla Schlorf 5’4″ | PG Tecumseh | 2026 State MI is one of the best 2026 PG’s in the state. Why is she one of my favorite prospects to watch? She continually displays character and excellence in all phases of her performance on the court (Read David Barns). She threw a dime from the volleyball line to an open teammate at the rim who dropped the pass resulting in a turnover; she smiled, waved at her teammate “you’re good”, she’s a leader. During the defensive slide drill she is using her arms, staying low, shouting, and going 100%. During the stationary ball handling drills she was top 3 in her group and grinding. During live competition she showcased her hesi, inside out dribble, and stutters to freeze the defense and score contested layups or create open looks for teammates. Once again she led the pack in assists, while still getting hers. A favorite play on the day was when she saw herself isolated with a defender, drove by her and beat two help defenders to the rim for a layup. She causes havoc with her no quit defense and endless motor. Makayla is someone who should be on everyone’s radar right now.

Faith Zoldos
Faith Zoldos
Earlier this week, I saw Faith Zoldos run a down and back in 7 seconds, so what she did today came as no surprise. After a turnover, Faith chased a guard down from half court who started at the free throw line and then completely annihalated the basketball with a left-handed block. Her downhill speed with the dribble is fast and she can still keep her eyes up and pass the ball. She uses low sweeps, inside out dribbles, behind the back step backs to freeze the defender and either pull up or get to the rim. Faith is a pure shooter who explodes on drives. She had at least 4 blocks today and her 69″ wingspan closes passing lanes. She drained multiple 3-pt shots today and had heads turning in the gym. Faith is going to explode this fall and will not remain a secret for long.
Mallory Miller was definitely a top performer on the court today and one of the 2024’s who really look like they belong at the next level. During the stationary ball handling drills she out worked her entire group like she was trying to put holes in the floor. She scored at every level and every angle. Mallory can face up or get into the low post with her back to the basket and drop step pivot into a bucket. I wrote down that Malllory has an endless motor as she controlled oreb’s and dreb’s making multiple put backs. Her behind the back snaps were crisp, court vision elite, and pull up 3’s deadly. Mallory’s baseline drives were a strength as she finished for two or found teammates after drawing defenders. Miller made a case that she was the best overall prospect on the court today and I hope to see her at more events in the future.

Sa’ryah Roberts Sa’ryah Roberts 5’0″ | PG Romulus | 2024 State MI is a PG who has impressed me for the second time now; the first time I saw her was as an opposing coach this summer. Roberts plays fast, confident, and aggressive on both sides of the ball. Her ball handling in stationary drills was tight, low to the ground, and quick. In defensive slides her athleticism, speed, and agility was exceptional. She has a high arcing balanced release with a shooter’s touch. Her jab step moves defenders and creates a path for her to drive and dish or get to the rim. Her wide lateral pushout dribbles and burst to finish the layup was impressive. Sa’Ryah is proud of her passing and she demonstrated that with a backdoor assist from the top of the key. She stole the ball in the post from help and also on the ball: then took it all the way for a layup. Roberts shares the ball, plays relentless defense, and scores at all three levels: she earned the offer she got today!

Katie Martus Katie Martus 5’8″ | SG HEA | 2024 State MI went out today and proved once again that she deserves the attention she has received at the next level. She played tough defense forcing difficult shots and controlled the boards. Katie scored at all three levels making multiple 3 pointers off the dribble and from the catch. One of her defining moments from the day came when she caught the ball in the low post back to the rim, pinned her defender with a drop step, and finished off the glass while drawing a foul. She put the ball between her legs and then nailed a pull up jumper. Katie outworked her opponents for offensive rebounds and simply would not be denied out there today. She showcased her special abilities on the court and finished the day with another offer.
Olivia Gadson Olivia Gadson 5’8″ | CG Holt | 2027 State MI had her way on the court today. She blew me away by how hard she worked in every single drill. Olivia had the quickest feet and smoothest defensive slides in her group and when she did stationary ball handling her handles were also elite: she made advanced look ordinary. Olivia used all kinds of dribbles with powerful, long strides to create space and then hit multiple 3’s. Her explosiveness and speed to the rim made her nearly impossible to stop man to man. On one play she drove downhill from the left wing and finished a contested layup with her right hand on a 6’0 post. Olivia stole the ball another time and finished with a jump stop layup. Olivia’s athleticism and fundamental precision make her a top prospect in the 2027 class.

Emma Crow Emma Crow 5’6″ | SG Swanton | 2024 State MI came from Ohio and left with an offer. She led the way with her physicality, communication, and two way basketball on the court. Emma was one of the strongest looking and most confident playmakers in the gym. She played full tilt the entire day on offense and defense. Emma drove downhill and finished with contact at the rim. She also pulled up and drained a top of the key 3-pointer. She did not switch on screen she fought through them and squared up the ball handler with nose to nose pressure. She also showed her vision by driving baseline and dishing to a teammate for the assist. Emma made her voice heard in the gym today and earned her offer with a determined performance.
Emily Cates Emily Cates 5’4″ | CG Potterville | 2025 State MI caught my eye Saturday and since I haven’t seen her play before, I kept asking who she was. Emily showed her strong ball handling skills during stationary drills: low dribble, quick, skilled with both hands. She showed her effectiveness by escaping a corner trap reversing from right to left hand with pound dribble crossovers and then driving baseline. Emily drove baseline another time and converted a reverse layup. She has a smooth left-handed 3-pt shot with a high finish and balanced setup. She crashes the boards and has quickness to apply pressure and deflect passes on defense. Emily’s ability to comfortably dribble with both hands while seeing the floor makes her an excellent point guard and she has the passing accuracy to get the ball where it needs to go. She uses her hands and voice to communicate on defense and is an all around prospect who will continue to shine at Potterville.

Grace Gaudard Grace Gaudard 5’4″ | CG Holt | 2027 State MI rose to the occasion at the Freshman Showcase last weekend and this time she did it against upperclassmen. During the read and react offensive segment she stood out as a player who “got it” quickly and could finish. She demonstrated her lateral quickness and agility during defensive slides. In the stationary ball handling segment her handles were at the top of the group and she had no problem squaring up with her eyes straight ahead. In live play she used a low pound dribble crossover to freeze her defender and get to the rim. Gigi is a shooter; she hit pull up 3’s and can do it off the bounce or catch. What made her day most impressive however, was her defense and passing. Gigi blocked the shot of a much taller college prospect not once, but twice. She has the awareness to sink into the post and cause turnovers. Offensively, she used an inside out crossover then converted a contested left hand floater on a taller defender. Gigi (once again) threw a one handed rocket pass in transition and she can do it with either hand. I continue to be impressed by this 2027 CG from Holt.
