Virginia High School Preview: Part 1

Paul VI

With a number of state titles under their belt Paul VI rolls into this season as once again the clear cut favorite to win it all again! Led by Laura Williams Laura Williams 6'2" | PF Paul VI | 2024 State VA (USC commit) this team now has a cast of veterans like Riley Hamburger Riley Hamburger 6'0" | SG Paul VI | 2025 State VA who should have a breakout season! Demi Gilliam Demi Gilliam 6'1" | SF Paul VI | 2026 State VA a transfer from Gainesville high school has potential tremendous upside and could be a day one starter! Look for sophomore guard Madison Nicholson Madison Nicholson 5'5" | CG Paul VI | 2026 State VA to step up and play a bigger role on a team that will play a tough schedule season.

Manchester high school

Last year Manchester came up short in the state championship game, but they are reloaded and ready to go for another championship run! They are led by arguably the best player in the state, Mia Woolfolk Mia Woolfolk 6'2" | PF Manchester HS | 2024 State VA (Georgia Commit) Rayne Wright Rayne Wright 5'11" | CG Manchester | 2025 State VA provides a suitable pairing for probably one of the best one-two punches in the state of Virginia! The key for another run is the backcourt for the Lancers sharpshooter Leah Hampton Leah Hampton 5'5" | PG Manchester | 2024 State VA and gurad Finley Weaver Finley Weaver 5'5" | PG Manchester | 2026 State VA will have to be consistent and hit big shots behind the three-point arc this season!

Woodgrove high school

Two years removed from a state title room that came up sure Woodgrove is looking to get back to the title game! They will welcome back leading scorer, Sadie Shores Sadie Shores 5'10" | CG Woodgrove HS | 2024 State VA (Stony Brook Commit) who has transferred back to the high school for her senior year! She will not be alone because this team has legit talent in the back court position with arguably one of the most versatile guards in the state Angelina Nice Angelina Nice 6'0" | CG Woodgrove | 2024 State VA (Radford Commit). Also watch out for freshman guard Amaya Ramey Amaya Ramey 5'9" | SF Woodgrove | 2027 State VA who should walk in as a day one starter with division 1 upside that can contribute at a high-level.

Bishop Ireton high school

Last year in my opinion, they played the toughest schedule in the private school sector in the state of Virginia. This season it doesn’t look any different. With six Division I players on the roster. Led by top flight wing Nyla Brooks Nyla Brooks 6'2" | SF Bishop Ireton | 2025 State VA ( Tennessee Commit) recently rank, 16 in her class via ESPN. Amirah Anderson Amirah Anderson 5'10" | SF Bishop Ireton | 2025 State VA (Boston College Commit) is a complete three level scorer for a high school that has two power of five commits! Saniyah King Saniyah King 5'8" | CG Bishop Ireton | 2024 State VA (Howard commit) provides veteran leadership in the back court. Out the gate this team will be without Desirae Ashton Desirae Ashton 6'1" | PF Bishop Ireton | 2024 State VA ( Bucknell Commit) who will slowly make her way back from a knee injury, but should be ready to go mid December!

Catholic high school

Over the years this program has slowly been collecting really good talent in the 757 area! A really big edition this coming season Zaniyah Williams Zaniyah Williams 5'7" | PG Catholic HS | 2026 State VA , one of the top point guard prospects in the country will join a roster that is full of talent. Kylah Moore Kylah Moore 5'6" | CG Catholic HS | 2024 State VA (Coppin State commit) is a really good combo guard that solidifies a really good back court for this team. Jemma Eleby Jemma Eleby 5'11" | PF Catholic | 2025 State VA has good upside and will have to play a big role at the three or maybe the four positions for this team to be successful. And Olivia Bowes Olivia Bowes 5'8" | SG Catholic HS | 2024 State VA is a big wing that can be an instant stat stuffer at any time with her ability to score at all three levels.

The Potomac school

Very intriguing program that has a core of really good young talent. Standing at the top of that list and a top five player in the state of Virginia in the 2027 class Sabrina Anderson Sabrina Anderson 5'8" | PG Potomac School | 2027 State VA , who holds multiple division one offers as a freshman. Another really good young freshman Sabrina Eldridge who is a good knock down shooter from the perimeter also came out this summer with a Division and offer. Two sports star Catherine LeTendre Catherine LeTendre 6'1" | CG Potomac School | 2025 State VA will have to provide some big-time veteran leadership and scoring from the wing position. And anchoring the front court Zoe Myslewicz Zoe Myslewicz 6'3" | PF The PotomacSchool | 2024 State VA ( Hamilton College commit) has really developed into a consistent low post scorer who can control the boards and will have to be a rim protector this upcoming season!

Deep Creek high School

If it’s a time for a school to capitalize and possibly be one of the top public schools in the 757 this is the year for deep Creek! They will need no doubt a big year from Chloe Beddingfield Chloe Beddingfield 5'11" | SF Deep Creel HS | 2024 State VA 5’10 wing that has D1 ability can be the catalyst to lead this young team to a playoff run! One of the top prospects in the state of Virginia in the 2027 class, Morgan Herbert Morgan Herbert 6'0" | SF Deep Creek | 2027 State VA is a player whose basketball game is constantly evolving, and can be a versatile piece on the floor! But this season success will hinge on the point guard/ floor general Asia Keels Asia Keels 5'3" | PG Deep Creek | 2026 State VA . A very skilled guard that will have to run the office and score for this team to make a state championship run.
