Best In The West: 2025 Scoring Threats

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Yesterday, I featured some under-the-radar prospects from the eastern part of the state and today it's time to look a five western Kansas products.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Each athlete averaged double-digit scoring totals as a junior, but not among the unofficial top 10 scoring athletes from the Class of 2025.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Yahaira Puetro, </strong>5'2”<strong>, </strong>CG, Satanta, ‘25</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Satanta Indians' guard scored 15.2 points per game as a junior. She scored the majority of her points in transition and at the free-throw line. She also chipped in an impressive 3.7 rebounds, and 2.8 steals per contest. She also plays libero for the Satanta volleyball squad.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Braegan Shelor</strong>, 5'8”, PF, Minneola, ‘25</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Shelor is a physical forward who likes to score from inside. She scored 15 points per game in 21 games played for the Wildcats. She also is a solid “glass cleaner” who averaged 7.8 rebounds per contest. She is skilled at creating contact and cashed in after that contact to the tune of 70 percent shooting from the free throw line.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='456514' first='Tayten' last='Dewey']</strong>, 5'10”, PG, Rawlins County, ‘25</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Dewey is a two-sport prospect in basketball and volleyball. She plays point guard for the Buffaloes and could be known as “Miss Consistency” averaging 11-plus points per game in all three high school seasons. She had an impressive overall stat line on the back of her basketball card averaging 6.2 boards, 4.1 assists, and 2.9 steals as a junior. She finished with 304 assists and 214 kills for Rawlins County last season splitting time at setter and outside hitter.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Bryn Gillispie, </strong>5'8”, G/F, Quinter , ‘25</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Quinter Bulldogs got a solid season from Gillispie. She is quick and versatile. She plays a poised game and finished with a 14.3-point scoring average as a junior. She is not afraid to crash the boards collecting 5.1 rebounds per game.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='453762' first='Reece' last='Smith']</strong>, 5'6”, PG, Trego, ‘25</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Smith scored 11.1 points per game for the Trego Golden Eagles. She has nice court vision and finished with an average of 2.1 assists per game. She shot an impressive 62-for-86 from the free throw line good for a 72 percent success rate.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
