Continue ReadingAfter a productive freshman campaign, Conally’s highlight tape hints at three level scoring capabilities. Along with getting to the rim on drives, she showed good ability to either hit floaters or stop quickly for mid-range jumpers. She also looked very comfortable as a spot up threat from beyond the arc. It looks like a great start to a high school career, where the Bishop McGuinness standout could mature into one of the most complete scorers in Oklahoma.

Natalie Powell
Natalie Powell
Powell had a strong showing at lat week’s Border War with the stat line and highlights to back it up. In the video she shows the ability to mix it up inside, while making the defense pay when left alone from deep. She has a strong frame, and she played to that size with some of her finishing through contact. One of the best plays for the rising juniors wasn’t even a score, it was her in the high post firing an on the money bounce pass to a cutting teammate for an easy score. Powell has the look of a Swiss Army Knife guard, who could also play multiple positions.
With high arcing three pointers that lead to a shot touch on the rim, Edwards’ main contribution for her sophomore season looks to have been as a spot up sniper. Which, her quick release did allow him to get off good shots over closing out defenders. When defenders did close out on her, she was comfortable pump faking and either attacking the rim or redirecting with a dribble or two and shooting again. There’s a small mix of passing, including post entry passes that hint at her ability to be more than a shooter. Which is an area to keep an eye on in Edwards’ development as an upperclassman.
Highlights
The small town guard has a nifty tight handle and a quality jumper. She plays with a good mix of patient and skill on drives, with ball fakes and good footwork to gain seperation. But even broke out the nastier stuff, when she dropped a defender with a behind the back move in transition. Impressively her shooting form doesn’t change if it’s a set shot off the ball or her pulling up off the dribble. Shooting and handles make for a great combination in Wilson’s game.
Highlights
A quick guard with long arms, Johnson’s highlights paint the picture of an active guard on both ends of the floor. She’s capable of getting to the rim, finishing with either hand. While also being a disruptor with steals and ball pressure on the defensive end. Once she secures a steal or a long rebound, it looks like she’s always wanting to turn offense into defense by pushing it herself or firing passes to teammates. The rising junior’s shooting form also looked good, with her hitting in the mid-range and from three as well.

A check in on a freshman from Eastern Oklahoma, the lefty has a textbook shooting form that was on display in an impressive highlight tape from a December in-season tournament. She can put it on the floor just enough to see how her game will continue to evolve through her high school journey. Impressively, she has a defensive tape from the same tournament, that shows a full picture of how she’s more than just a spot up threat. She’s a feisty defender, who picked up the ball with good pressure. And active hands on and off the ball. After a productive freshman campaign, Norton a is a freshman to keep tabs on.
