College coaches, media, and prospects invaded the Cage Fieldhouse at Swartz Creek to see a number of independent teams face off over the weekend. Michigan Storm was the headliner program, Northern Pride made the long trek from Northern Michigan, and the remaining teams joined in from all across lower Michigan. What made the Cagers Invitational tournament unique and exciting was the number of independent travel clubs competing at the tournament. The college coaches in attendance had the benefit of seeing many JUCO-NAIA prospects who are flying under-the-radar. These are the 2026 prospects who turned heads with their spectacular play at the tournament.
Gabby Foster was an assassin from beyond the arc for Michigan Storm Elite 2025 UAA at the Cagers Invitational. Gabby knocked down two corner 3’s, many wing 3’s from far beyond the line, and climbed the ladder to block a forward’s shot in the low post. Gabby’s shifty ball handling, balance shooting off the dribble, and passing precision create constant scoring opportunities.
Highlights
Kayla Hairston Kayla Hairston 5’2″ | PG Goodrich | 2026 State MI flashed her dynamic scoring abilities for Michigan Storm UAA 2026 at the Cagers Invitational. She jetted through defenders to score a left-handed layup off the glass and used a push-out dribble before splitting defenders again to earn free throws. Kayla extended her shooting outside and knocked down a smooth corner 3 off the catch with a quick release.
Caiya Hunter
Caiya Hunter
Caiya Hunter showed she had plenty of game left in her tank for the Michigan Prospects last game at the Cagers Invitational on Saturday. She grabbed my attention with her hard work on both ends and downhill drives. Caiya drove by her defender from the corner to score a contested finish at the rim and attacked aggressively to draw a foul on another drive. She stole the ball multiple times and elevated to score a powerful two footed finish in traffic.
Brynn Davis Brynn Davis 5’10” | SF Lenawee Christian | 2027 State MI was a force inside playing up with the Michigan Cobras 2026 team at the Cagers Invitational. She finished a full speed layup in transition, knocked down her free throw, and secured rebounds. One of Brynn’s best moments came when she used an impressive drop step pivot with an up and under finish to score in the low post.
Emersyn Bachelder
Emersyn Bachelder
Emersyn Bachelder scorched the court with her offensive play for Michigan Cobras 2026 at the Cagers Invitational. Emersyn used a combination of behind the back and crossover dribble moves to escape pressure and knocked down a floater from the middle of the paint. She chased down a long pass in transition and made a pin point entry pass to her teammate through a narrow window. Emersyn was effective beyond the arc, knocking down a wing 3 off the catch and another from up top. She pushed the ball to score a contested floater in transition and turned steals into layups. Emersyn worked for offensive rebounds inside and displayed the length, athleticism, hustle, and offensive efficiency coaches look for at the next level.
Jaebri’an Autry Jaebri’an Autry 5’10” | PF Detroit Renaissance | 2026 State MI used her relentless defensive pressure to create chaos for Lady FVV 2026 at the Cagers Invitational. She stood out as the most athletic player on the court as she caused countless turnovers by cutting off ball handlers and stealing the ball away. Jaebri’an took the ball and blew by her opponent to score transition layups again and again. She attacked downhill off the dribble to score in the half court and showed her outside range by knocking down a corner 3 off the catch. Jaebri’an muscled her way to an offensive rebound and converted the put back.
