College coaches, media, and prospects invaded the Cage Fieldhouse at Swartz Creek to see a number of independent teams face off over the weekend. Michigan Storm was the headliner program, Northern Pride made the long trek from Northern Michigan, and the remaining teams joined in from all across lower Michigan. What made the Cagers Invitational tournament unique and exciting was the number of independent travel clubs competing at the tournament. The college coaches in attendance had the benefit of seeing many JUCO-NAIA prospects who are flying under-the-radar. Here are some of the 2027 prospects who excelled at the tournament.
Reese Holton Reese Holton 6’0″ | PF Orchard Lake St. Mary’s | 2027 State MI was an electric forward for Michigan Storm 2027 UA Next Level at the Cagers Invitational. Her length, strength, and quickness make her an outstanding forward prospect and causes nightmares for opponents. Reese scored using drop step finishes inside multiple times and rejected a shot attempt on defense. She knocked down a smooth mid-range corner jumper and attacked off the dribble facing up or with her back to the basket.

Allie Crighton demonstrated two-way abilities at the Cagers Invitational that make her an exceptional guard prospect for Michigan Storm UAA 2027 . Allie was a menace defensively, stealing the ball, then pushing in transition full court to score at the rim many times. She handled the ball comfortably under pressure, tight roping the sidelines. Allie extended her range to knock down a 3 pointer from the corner and found teammates for assists after forcing turnovers.

McKinsey Berlin McKinsey Berlin 6’2″ | C Canton | 2027 State MI flashed athleticism at the Cagers Invitational that make her a forward/center with exciting potential for Michigan Storm UAA 2027. Her height, strength, balance, and quickness give her an advantage over other posts on the floor. McKinsey anticipated passes, stole the ball, and finished at the rim. One of her wow moments happened after she secured a defensive rebound, dribbled the full length of the court, and scored using a high pick up euro-step at the rim. McKinsey drilled her free throws and protected the paint with her shot blocking.
Lucy Moyer
Lucy Moyer
Lucy Moyer was instrumental to the success of her Northern Pride team at the Cagers Invitational. Her versatility to play guard and forward using her length and aggressiveness caused matchup problems for defenders. She pushed the ball out with quick dribbles and long strides in transition. Lucy was an unstoppable finisher inside with countless offensive rebounds and put backs. She sealed her defender on a box out to secure the offensive rebounds and then scored inside. Lucy used an outstanding pivot, high-rip step thru move to score off the glass despite being fouled. She will be a 2027 prospect to follow in Northern Michigan.
Sophia Mator Sophia Mator 5’6″ | PG Carelton Airport | 2027 State MI provided an offensive spark for Michigan Prospects 2027 at the Cagers Invitational. She put her foot down and accelerated through the paint to score at the rim multiple times. Sophia split through the defense to score a smooth right handed scoop off the left glass. One of her best plays was when she scored inside using a right spin dribble spin move in the paint. Sophia utilized the spin move again to dish an accurate bounce pass to a teammate for an open shot.
